knitting and patterns

you guys,

i am thinking about knitting my own elongated cardigan/wrap.
but since i am not too familar with freestyling the whole pattern,
i'd like to know, if you could recommend me some
interesting pattern resources one could draw inspiration from.

also except a black color i am still thinking about which
yarn blend i should take. i like the cool feel and
decent shine of my bamboo/silk yarn for example, but i am open
to all your suggestions.

also feel free to post your own knitting-projects.
