    Fashion on Myspace?

So I log on and I am greeted with a banner that blares out 'New York Fashion Week SS07' with a style.com logo nearby.

Good or bad, what do you think?

Freaky, I think. Good, as in Internet has the real power in outmuscling the traditional media (I hate traditional media because there is much less power to choose content). Bad, as the myspace contingent leaves much to be desired in general (with exceptions, obviously). It's good for style.com though, hooking little girls on magazines early.

I was hoping it would eventually do what it's done for music, and create an accessible outlet for people with real talent and hopefully expose the teens and 20 somethings to something else besides what they see on MTV or in Maxim or something. I personally think it can only get better, although right now it looks like they're having layout issues.

That's the net dilemna, how to give exposure and distinguish worthy content among the sea of dreck out there, which is why a lot of peoplemoved in the direction of communities, only to discover it wasn't enough and you'll need communities with standards, which is what is happening in many fields now. I.e. wikipedia and a dedicated team of qualified editors.

I think it's a good networking and advertising tool. I know a few Aussie designers that have MySpaces and they use it to inform their friends on new collections, sample sales, events, etc :).

I just went on it, and saw a picture of Lohan, Richie, and vote for your fave skinny jeans logo of 2006!!!

                      Yeah?I think I?ll pass?

I prefer to use IQONs, it?s more for people that are more serious about it in a business sense than ?like oh my god I heart celebrities? kind of thing.

MySpace personally is not for me?

Hey we should make a stylezeitgeist group on iqons when they get that feature implemented.
