Ryusaku Hiruma lives in Firenze, Italy in 1998. He went to London to study theory of footwear. He thinks that the shoes are not only for wearing, but also a piece of art. Even he was affected by London street culture and contemporary art, he moved to Italy where is mother land of renaissance and industrial design which is pretty much opposite to London to find out his starting point in 2002. From 2004, he started to present SAK in Paris. The bag collection has joined since 2005. For now, SAK is available in Europe and Japan.

    TO & CO

    from Minorityrev.com

Hitoshi Hamada, Masahiro Wakabayashi. They have the atelier in Paris and producing the shoes in Italy. The concept that they produce is that lady’s shoes to be “tidy” and gent’s are “what they want to wear”. And the shoes are about Italian craftsmanship and sense of Japanese in Paris.

      OMINE JUN

      from Minorityrev.com

He used to pass around shoe factory in Asakusa, Tokyo when he was about 18 and started to learn shoe making by self-study. After he had worked for fashion relation for 2 years, he went to the UK. As soon as he arrived, he started to learn in the factory for specialized bespoke shoe in London to be a last maker. He had traveled around in Europe such as Firenze, Rome and Paris with learnt in ateliers and factories to absorb each place’s culture, history and tradition about shoe. After he was back to Japan, he opened his atelier to start makingsamples. His own brand started when he was 24. He insists “made in Japan”. The time he spent in Europe made him to realize that there are so many local traditions and flavors about shoe. He also felt something strange. He wondered that tradition sometimes prevents to go ahead. He put techniques of tradition in his own works.

I like Omine Jun's lace-up boots. The olive/brownish leathers look really nice.

I'm impressed with the NDC shoes. I never really liked them much in the past.
