Outlets, samples, stock sales and other bargain shopping opportunities

I always want information about good sample sales, outlet shops and things things like that. SoI thought maybe we could have a thread.

To get started, does anyone have any dates for this season's Antwerp stock sales yet? They should becoming up pretty soonI think.

Great thread. Actually, I don't think they start until late November. I am sure droogist will hook you up closer to the date!!! Honestly, I think I may have to time my next trip to Antwerp for that - maybe next May (how shallow!).

As fare as NYC sales, I will definitely keep you guys posted. Master of NYC sales, I am

I just received the following email from Dries Van Noten. (I think it's pretty obvious what it means, but if anyone knows Flemish and thinks there are secrets hidden within, please lend us your skills.)

Kleding means clothing, right? But what does stoffen mean... stuff? Does that mean they'll be selling their fabrics? Uncut Dries fabrics would be worth a trip to Antwerp in itself!

Yes, "stoffen" means fabrics. Dries always sells his fabric overstock at his sample sales (as do most of the Antwerp designers).

No remaining hidden messages in the invite, sorry...

Right after new years. But its crazy. That's why I dont even bother cuz they are willing to sit/sleep a couple DAYS in advance of the sales. I remember 109 being a huge line of Ganguro in tight skirts in freezing cold weather for miles on end the night before the sale.

yeah i went a few hours after the summer sale started and shit was picked over at barneys- or maybe they just didn't put a lot on sale.

I'm thinking of making a special trip for some of these. Reckon it's likely to be worth my while?

^ Honestly, if the only reason you're going to Antwerp is to hit the stock sales, I'm not sure it will be. As it stands now, there aren't a lot of menswear designers on this list, and in my experience the quality (and price points) of the sales can vary greatly from one season to the next. Unless a few more men's labels (e.g. Dirk Schönberger, Wim Neels, Raf) join in, I don't think I would recommend it.

On the other hand, keep in mind that Antwerp is a great city to visit, stock sales or no. And the non-sale shopping is pretty kick-ass too. ;)
