    Nude : Masahiko Maruyama

"Masahiko Maruyama established Nude in Japan in 1996. The name represents simplicity and easiness not straight forward nudity or pornography. Masahiko started out working at a clothing company that produced character like images. Then decided to try his hand at fashion pieces that were more design orientated, but simple. The main concept of the brand is producing garments that are favored for their high quality and functionality not for their reputation or name. For this reason each garment is labeled with an item number not a brand name."
    (quote via OWN Magazine)

Not quite as progressive as some of the other recent Japan based brands that have been posted (i.e. Julius) but I figured I'd try to contribute something. If anyone else knows anything else about the brand / photos / etc... I'd be interested. I'll just post three photos off of http://www.nudemm.com/. If you want to see more go there, posting more here would be a waste of time. Sorry the photos are so big.

(I believe these are from the S/S 06 Women's Collection. Posted because it has the "coordination" photo at the bottom of the pieces being worn)

Had no idea the photos were GIGANTIC as they appear rather small on the website, so I provided links instead. First two are items, third is model shots.

    Er... enjoy?

Thanks for this Servo! I was just looking at this stuff in a shop yesterday, and it's really lovely. Quite expensive though. I would like more info too, if anyone has any.

OT: Is anyone familiar with the Japanese label Cousette? I would start a thread, but I can't find any pics or a website. [:(]

Weird how this thread came out of nowhere like two months after I posted it. I can understand that it might not appeal to certain sensibilities, but at least to one side of what I look for in clothing I really loved some of what this line was doing.

I think there's some even nicer stuff on his website, individual pieces wise, but just for casual viewing these were good since you could see how they were "meant" to be worn / styled. It's stuff that, if it wasn't so expensive, I would wear comfortably on a daily basis for any occasion (I'm referring to menswear. Seriously, this time). Well, some of the pieces, just because they are so "plain", but they are designed enough that they really aren't boring, at least in my opinion. The philosophy behind the pieces, at least what I get from a purely aesthetic standpoint, reminds me somewhat of A.P.C. in that sense.

Actually, I remember not being able to load the pictures on my computer, lol. Definitely some nice pieces there.

Hello everyone...I'm a new member here, but wanted to make my first contribution to the forum by providing a little more detail about my experience with this label as it looks to have been largely ignored/overlooked by the community here.

I recently purchased a few menswear items (a waistcoat, an overcoat, and some trousers) by Nude, and found them to be superior in terms of quality, craftsmanship, and fit. The fabrics and construction were beyond my expectations. Everything is made in Japan and goes perfectly with other designer basics that I have in my closet. Aesthetically, think a mixture of Yohji and Ann D.

Right now, the only sites I've found that carry select items from the line are Forward, Yoox, and Vertice. If anyone else here has pieces from the last season or thoughts that you would like to share about this line, please post!

At some point, and if I gather up enough courage, I may even post a WAYWT fit showing the pieces I've picked up. Until then, I hope this provides a little more insight for anyone who may be interested!

Nude MM's not very bespoked, but..
...I've just bought (on sale) a pair of pants (black, slightly drop crotch with elasticated hem): very nice construction and fit, perfect for my everyday wearing!

Moreover, I'm still proud of my Nude MM linen grey blazer (with waistcoat included): still wearing it a lot in my office life.

But... Honestly I don't if I'd have buyed them at full price.

Funny you mention this guy, I just hung out with Maruyama san a couple of hours ago, he has an impeccable taste in music, he really knows his stuff.

Really incredibly amicable and conversational person, he has a sample sale on saturday that I intend on attending~
