Hmmm, same old, same old. I'm sure there is someone out there who buys this, but I haven't met them yet. Maybe I'll stalk people at IF. I guess it's suppsed to be grown up and intellectual and stuff like that. Although I find that noone does that late 70's silhouette that she does - so it is kind of unique in a bland way... if you catch my drift.

Actually, after looking over this again carefully, I quite like this. It doesn't stake out a great claim, it's just well-made clothes, and that's fine.

I like it too. It does get repetitive, but no one else does anything quite like it. It always looks a little severe and rather "intellectual".
Faust, this is what we will wear when we are college professors. [:P]...I mean the ephemeral, the fugitive, the contingent, the half of art whose other half is the eternal and the immutable.

Hahaha, yea, I had that thought too (only the peanuts we will be making will maybe allow us to get this at 90% off). It is rather "intellectual," although I always cringe (unjustifiably so, because it DOES look intellectual) when someone refers to intellectual clothing.

There are some looks in there that are literally out of my imagination for the slightly edgy architecture college professor sort of look, like this one:
I immediately imagined him standing on the stoop of a building, pointing something out to a crowd of students on a slightly brisk morning.

I actually really like this (esp. the womens clothing). I have never really paid much attention to Branquinho before, I know she has been around for a while, does anyone have more info on her history and work?
I think the academe feel of the collection is partially the context--the room and carpet the pictures were taken in. I think the clothes could be more edgy in other spaces. I definately see the 70s influence, and like it a lot, sophisticated but a little awkward and rough (a clumsy beauty?).

She's been around for a while, she's part of Antwerp 2.0 wave along with Raf, Willhelm, Delcour, etc. I always want to like her clothes more, but a lot of times it's hard. Many times it's just way too plain, not mannish like Jil Sander though. She does have some gems, and she has a following.Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months - Oscar Wilde
