The brands that arent really brands

So I have an interview with a design position at a brand that I won't name, just because, well, I'm not going to...

But the reason why I am posting is because I am doing research and trying to find GREAT designers that make similar clothing just so I can get a better feel.

The Brand is mostly menswear and sells all over America.....let's say it's sortof like Dockers mixed with a more mature Polo Ralph Lauren.

Mostly pants, button downs, sweaters and two-piece suits,

I am looking for recommendations of DESIGNERS who have presented fairly recent collections of very SIMPLE clothing, no prints really, described above, but something with alot more attitude. and american style you know. late 20s to early 40s man that spends about 70 bucks on a pair of pants and 60 or so for a shirt. any designers that you recommend can obviously cost more and use better fabrics and all that but im more concerned with that style. sorry but i cant really go into more detail.

    gracias.

      yeah, that's one, thanks...

i seriously go BLANK when trying to think of brands like these...

i would say even a little more "man's man" than banana republic and a little more

"would sell well in tulsa, oklahama"....

Actually there is a client of Alan Bilzerian that purchases Linea/Carpe Diem in Tulsa. Willing to drop $8k on leather jackets! hahaha

Yeah, Kenneth Cole is another one....

those are the brands...that's the STYLE....

but are there any good designers doing this style?

what i mean is, isthere anyone i could find on firstview that does terrible american clothing in a good way?

I would never wear kenneth cole, or dockers or nautica or any of that but is there a designer who does this crap well and sells at a higher

          price range?

btw, ive been to tulsa once and i wanted to kill myself. im not a big fan of that type of america.

It really IS. I've seen it in stores and it's fucking amazing. There was a hand-made suite made in a factory in Brooklyn, it just blew my mind.

Band of Outsiders is one of those rare brands that GQ blows up that is actually worth its publicity. For their relatively decent prices, they can come up with some interesting basics. I'd say other than Rag and Bone, these guys do this look best.

I did not try it on, but it looked cropped, single-breasted, slight cut-away. It's the fabric that killed - extremely luxurious, something that Spencer Hart would do. I've never liked their stuff before, but I think this season they nailed it - a mix of Margiela and Thom Browne. I also really liked their shirts with contrasting MOP buttons.
