The actor Heath Ledger was found dead this afternoon apartment in Manhattan owned by the actress Mary-Kate Olsen, according to the New York City police. Signs pointed to a suicide, police sources said. Mr. Ledger was 28. </p>
At 3:31 p.m., a masseuse arrived at Apartment 5A in the building, at
421 Broome Street in SoHo, for an appointment with Mr. Ledger, the
police said. The masseuse was let in to the home by a housekeeper, who
then knocked on the door of Mr. Ledger?s bedroom. When no one answered,
the housekeeper and the masseuse opened the bedroom and found Mr.
Ledger naked and unconscious on a bed, with pills scattered around his
body. They shook him, but he did not respond. They immediately called
the authorities. </p>
The police said they did not suspect foul play. The police said they
believed Ms. Olsen, 21, was in California and said it was not clear why
Mr. Ledger was in her apartment. </p><p class="post-author"></p>

He was found dead in his bed at his apartment on Broome Street,
Soho in Manhattan, by his housekeeper at 3.35pm local time, the TMZ
website said.</p>
A police spokesman told smh.com.au the cause of death was
unknown, despite the presence of drugs.</p>
"We don't have that (the cause of death) yet. The matter is
still under investigation," the spokesman said.</p>
He was pronouced dead at 3.45pm (0745 AEDT)by a medical
examiner who went to the apartment.</p>
US television network NBC reported his body was found surrounded
by pills.

I feel bad for him.. although I think he is a high achiever that may be he didn't win his Oscar.. and that made him hook on the drugs(or may be he was on before already).. and kinda spiral downhill from there... to me it was more of a shock then anything else....

if you're going to kill yourself at least go out on a heroin overdose. much more of a cliche, but it still sounds cooler in the books.</P>
