    Crushed Single-Piece Construction Leather Bag

Finished this bag a little over a week ago as one of the accessories for my capsule collection Collateral

I'm super happy with how it came out!

Smooth oil calf leather was used for the bag. The body was constructed, hand-sewn and then boiled followed by crushing and hot air drying. The 5' long twisted strip is a continuous piece from the flap and can either be looped indiana-jones style off to one side or if you're carrying a lot of stuff can be wrapped around the body of the bag to help keep things closed. Texturally, the body of the bag is different than the shoulder strap and the twisted strip.

The strap is stitched together and to the bag (anchored with sideways T stitches and the two pieces of leather forming the strap are stitched together and to the bag via the XXXXX stitches (they are XXXX's in the inside as well. Clean.) in the center back of the bag.

The strap is adjustable at 3 settings using hand-hammered, welded and heavily oxidized silver hardware (the closure mechanism I'm currently filing a patent for, so uh... patent pending I guess . Also a reason why I'm not showing clear photos of it just yet). There is a similarly treated silver rectangular link on the other side of the strap for continuity.

This is just a glimpse of everything coming

Sweet Albert! This piece put a big smile on my face. Can't wait to see the closure piece too. Love the strip accent coming off the flap and its functional property. Great work my friend!!

                  looks totally great

don't know exactly what you're using to sew the bag, I just thought I would mention this stuff I came across a while ago that I was really impressed by

I've sewn saddle stitch seams on deer leather with this stuff that I was physically unable to damage aside from the leather stretching along the seams a little bit. Also, because the thread itself is coated with wax it'll prevent the leather from rotting around the seams and prolong the life of the bag or whatever is sewn with it as well as keeping the seams super (really!) tight all the time

Thanks guys!!!! Man, I really do wish I had more free time so that I can get things going much faster!

Sharkweek, I'm currently using the standard heavy waxed thread. Everything stitched by hand using the double-through stitch where you punch all the holes for all the seams, stitch them through on both sides and then I process the bag as a whole. I'll look into that sinew as well!. I like the waxed thread I'm using now as the wax allows the stitches to sort of integrate into the seams really nicely :)
