i think the men/women comment is interesting, and of course while there are exception, there's certainly something in it. i think i made a similar comment some time ago. fashion is seen as a traditionally feminine thing, so maybe being interested in how things are put together and what they are made of is a more masculine way of allowing yourself to like fashion.
