Alan actually has a fair amount of older CCP a boots jackets and pants. They have a web presence but I don't think that's their thing. You might be better calling.

Riccardi in essence poached a couple of brands Alan used to carry, e.g., Julius and BBS, but I can't really blame either brand because Alan would buy only a few pieces and riccardi buys a ton

Oh funny, I was in Boston last Wed-Sun. Really nice to be back in one of my favorite cities. Thankfully most of the St. Patrick's day hellishness was localized to Southie and some of the Irish bars in town. Easily avoided.

Continued to enjoy the food and wine list at Eastern Standard and added Troquet this time which was outstanding both for service and consumables. The damn line at Mike's Pastry (and now even Modern pastry ever since tourists have "found" it as well) continues to get longer and longer, but the Harvard sq branch is zero wait.

despite living in the DC area for over 2 years I never made it up to Boston (NYC was always closer and more appealing!). heading back to the East Coast and basically have 1 full day and 1 morning in Boston and could use some recommendations.

will visit the two usual suspects shopping wise. we're staying at the Revere so food recommendations in the vicinity would be nice.

Not a lot of time, but for food, if you like steak head to Mooo (should be less than half a mile/800m from you). Silly name, but the food is fantastic. The bread is god awful with too much salt, but you don't go to a steakhouse for the bread. That's honestly all I'd recommend in that area in terms of restaurants. Finale is nearby if you want a specialist dessert place. Top of the Hub is also close if you want a great view of the skyline, but I can't comment on the food as I've only had drinks there.

If you're willing to get on the subway (the hotel is right by the Park St stop) Beat Brasserie in Harvard Square has excellent food and really good jazz music every night. I think I tried swordfish last time I was there and was impressed. Really you can't go wrong with anything on that menu. It's my favorite restaurant in the city.

There's also an exhibit on tech fashion at the MFA right now (smaller than the Met's of course, but still worth seeing). I haven't made my way out to see it yet, but it's still open for a few more weeks.

Forgot to update this after my last trip to Boston! On my last day there, I went to this place called Cafe ArtScience in Cambridge and it completely changed my conception of what a bar is or can be. Living in NYC (and pretty much any other major city), bar and drink wise we see a lot of old school methodology, craftsmanship and technique and we get used to loving this sort of thing. While this often leads to a great drink and is very cool in its own right (especially for those who love artisanal design and methods), we can miss out on what drinks can aspire to be. Cafe ArtScience aspires to innovate rather than appreciate and I definitely think it's worth checking out! I had drinks there in vapor form that you have to breath in and various other drinks doing cool things like one that changes flavor over the course of the drink! They also have pretty awesome tech incorporated into making drinks such as a centrifuge and a rotary evaporator. If you're interested, there are also a lot of great people who frequent the bar. I was there with Robert Langer whom I was later informed is a regular at the bar!

dji, the Revere is about a 15 minute car ride away (about 30 mins walking) from Cafe ArtScience! I seriously cannot talk about this place enough!

I actually didn't know about this place, but I'll definitely check it out. It sounds awesome. Thanks for the recommendation, eleves.

I seriously cannot stop talking about this place! Ambience is awesome and if you do happen to eat there as well just remember that the food is good although not really experimental but the desserts are! There is also a dessert served only at the bar called a Wikipearl which is pretty great so keep an eye out for that too! I was literally there for over 3 hours just trying things and listening to the crew behind the bar talk about the techniques that go into what they're making and what some of their ideas for future things are. Amazing stuff
