Would like to restart the coffee machine discussion. Does one absolutely need to spend $1k to get a good machine?

Breville has a pretty nice range.

        $150
        $500
        $600
They also have grinders ranging from $100-200
Their machines also have a silly amount of accessories/add-ons.

Idk faust you don't seem to strike me as one who would like to compromise.... drink coffee at home and espresso out... that's what id do.

Haven't done enough research of personal machines but I have yet to taste anything comparable to a marzocco...

I mean one of the many good pour over or other methods: hario v60, chemex, aeropress... just buy a scale and a good grinder

I just looked and neither of my two window AC units are energy star. They are both over 10 years old. If I replace them with energy star units will they pay for themselves in a few years of New York summers?

Dyson vacuums no longer worth the premium, right?

^If you want one I recommend getting one from Woot as they have refurbished/reconditioned ones for sale all the time. They have factory reconditioned DC40s right now for another 15 hours and it's $140 cheaper than amazon. (they do offer protection plans in case you're hesitant to get refurbished/reconditioned stuff)

My DC44Animal has been one of the best purchases for my home, seriously wouldn't use anything else. My family have always had Dyson so i never looked at anything else, but its a few years old now and not a single problem.
Unless you live in a house id stick to a handheld and a brush.

gave away my dyson after a few months of use.

                        best vacuums are:

                        nilfisk for work
                        miele for home

also, i found the best toaster:

                        Braun HT600

i bought this used and it's worked better than any new toaster i've had in the past. they don't make these in 120v anymore so best to look on ebay.

My girl and I just got a dyson and it´s perfect. May I ask what made you give yours away?

Btw, if someone´s looking for a steamer, we just got this one by Rowenta and it´s pretty neat:

I owned a Dyson for 2 days. Couldn't drive fast enough to the store to return that $500 piece of shit. It was cumbersome, the tricolor body was offensive to the eyes, and speaking of eyes, mine nearly crossed trying to manage the various configurations.

New rule of thumb: never buy something spoofed on SNL

Bought a Miele instead and now practically sing while vacuuming spiders off the ceiling.

Can't say enough about my Miele cooktop, either. German-made and worth every sky-high penny.

I only have experience with one of those handheld dysons, its barely better than any other hand held vacuum and the noise is unbearable, scares the hell out of my kids...
