Why so many looks? Why have 40 looks walk the runway, some hits some misses, when you could do a bit of self-editing, make the whole affair more intimate, with a slower pace, and send out 25?
And "When the prince has gathered about him
"All the savants and artists, his riches will be fully employed."

    Canto XIII, Ezra Pound

maybe because fall winter tends to give me high expectations from dries this was an extreme letdown, especially after spring summer, the dries-light collection, weak and uninteresting. this fall i cant shake the feeling he was completely uninspired and no amount of brain racking brought about a concept he got exited to explore so he drew on past collections and safe designs. it happens and i forgive him, this time...

From Cathy Horyn's review: "What may not be obvious is that many of the garments are asymmetric — one sleeve might be belled, the other straight; one shoulder may be raglan, but not the other. What this fine collection demands is to be seen up close."

        Makes it more interesting, no?

Asymmetric is an element amongst many, though interesting,
it's hard to ignore the rest, especially in this case, as it seems
          overshadowed. To me at least.
Are you afraid of women, Doctor?
          Of course.

possibly, i guess (with dries there is always an element of special skill) but i cant help the feeling that 2005, 2006, 2010 and even 2007 tapped into a rush of desire to express ideas so much more so than this. it just seems uncharacteristic of his ethos.

I meant, it makes you take a second look, because it's not something you notice right away.

I agree that it's an atypical Dries collection, but I don't necessarily mind it. It just looks like he's trying something new.

Yes, indeed it does, and there are great details,
which are not apparent by a quick glance, as also
mentioned in your Horyn quote. I was not dismissing
                    this.

Quite disappointing. The patterns and colors are too much in most of the pieces. And in general, the collection appears as if young people are wearing old people's clothes.

holy moly...I didn't think I had a reason to revisit this thread but those boots are are works of art. not sure if I need a pair of blue velvet boots in my life, but I'm gonna start saving for them. when dries does good it's damn good.
