Anyway, I second all the praise the collection has gotten, though maybe the intended audience for these items is royalty.

while I think this can be true, there is still no excuse not to care about personal appearance. Many designers dress simply, such as Ann, but they still manage to look stylish within the scope of their vision. Seeing Ann at the end of her shows in her own boots attests to the fact that she honestly believes in her designs; otherwise, she would wear someone else's.

i'd be curious to hear some more in-depth comments on the construction and materials of this collection from someone who is more technically knowledgeable than i am. any pattern makers or petits mains on sz today...?

agree with this, otherwise a fantastic collection imo

the collection is nice, great fabrics and all, but its missing McQueen's element of surprise, and you can see the difference, in that this is a very studied and calculated collection..............
All the looks are symmetrical, which is telling me that the designer is not thinking in three dimensional terms........

McQueen had the ability to think about clothing and garments with one side of it, being radically different from the other. that is missing in this collection...................
“You know,” he says, with a resilient smile, “it is a hard world for poets.”
          .................................................. .......................

The collection is wonderful, this is like a lesson of "savoir-faire", design, tailoring, handcraft...as always with Alexander McQueen Brand...
Not really a "ready to wear" collection appearence, much closer to "Haute-Couture".
I can't imagine the hand work on... and can't imagine the retail price as well...
Whatever, even if the ghost of Alex is above and his personnal final touch not totally inside, this is a beautiful collection, an insured success for Sarah Burton (except for her own personnal ugly clothing! - according to her cloths I believe she must belong to Tisci's family...).
Fortunately it can almost succeed in making me forget the no-meaning and no-interest Alexander mcQueen AW11/12 men collection by Sarah Burton! Which has been to me like an insult to Alex's memory and to his last, spectacular and so beautiful, AW10/11 collection.
Sarah Burton is doing much better for women and should maybe concentrate only on women collections for the future...

so, who is doing the job, if not her? I thought she took all of the art direction for AmQ...

My first thought was 'How did this soccer mom find her way onto the catwalk?'

In most houses men's and women's is very much separated. I am sure it's someone else designing. She might be giving some direction, but probably not, judging by the garbage that came out of the men's this season.
