What are the coolest book and/or magazine shops in your city? I would like to know where you go to get your printed matter. I am thinking of a store with a good reputation that sells all kinds of books and/or magazines.
I will kick it off.

1. St.Marks Book Shop
A well-curated selection of printed matter, from literature and criticism to art and photo books and magazines. No fluff.
2. Dashwood Books
For all books on photography, including out of print and rare stuff.
3. McNally Jackson Books
Another indie bookstore where literature and fiction are two different things, plus a well-edited section of magazines. A nice cafe with baked goods from Balthazar to boot.
I cannot think of any well-edited and pleasant news stands, although we have plenty with the everything-but-the-kitchen-sink mentality.
