"Beautiful Soul have set up a ‘Fabric Archive’, providing the opportunity for young brands, designers and students to purchase leftover fabrics from past seasons with the hopes of reducing waste that comes along with large minimum orders."

Most of the leftover fabric is also fairtrade/organic.

More of the tofu fashions...which feels incredibly soft I might add.

If I am getting it right: the bamboo viscose production is patented by the Chinese company, while the 'closed-loop' process for viscose production is patented by a European company. So this, along with the implementing of a closed-loop process for the Hebei Jigao Company being very expensive, is slowing down the process of bamboo viscose becoming a sustainable and adopted fabric choice. Or did I miss something, haha.

^Are you talking about Lenzing who also owns Lyocell, Tencel, and Modal as well? Cause they are one hell of a closed-loop monopoly.

Not exactly about sustainable fashion but a very good documentary about the creators of the cradle-to-cradle concept of economy.

Thank you for this, it was quite informative, and quite relevant to the thread in my opinion.

I do not however, approve of the Beach Boys playing for the ending credits.

LOL, sorry about the music. The rest of the soundtrack were weirdly Depeche-Mode-remix sounding things. Yeah, the doc was strong because here were examples that have made a real impact on industry, instead of just a bunch of irrelevant hippies or academics doing their irrelevant things.

My girlfriend used cradle-to-cradle in her sustainable fashion design thesis - that's how I got interested.

Is there any way of viewing said thesis?

You'd have to know how to read Finnish She is publishing a distillation of it in English - I will let you know once it comes out.

I do like vegetarian/vegan food when it's well done. Alas, I don't find many places that do it well.

it's good to see kowtow branching out a bit. They've been around for a while and i thought they were going to get sucked into the printed tee and nothing much else thing (which seems to have happened on the mens side) but the new collection looks great.

I may be posting this in the wrong place, but I believe that sustainability doesn't solely lie in the fabric that is being used, but also the way in which they are being manufactured. That being said, I think that the ethicality of labor is also of huge importance in the fashion industry. With the rise of fast fashion cheap labor is being exploited in terrible ways.
