How To Clean Taupe Suede Women Shoes ?

    Hi guys

I accidentally dropped a fork with 2 drops of gravy on my missus's shoes. Yeah im an idiot >_<
was wondering how can she restore/clean it ?

She tried dish washing soap and now part of the suede is like scrapped off. I assume the dish washing liquid was too concentrated

Similar to shoe and colour below. Will try take a photo of the actual shoe

    1) used water, hand soap and tissues to try clean
    2) water stains and light gravy stains were still on there, then went home and used dish washing liquid. I should've known better

Is this completely ruined or salvagable ?

It's more likely that the suede is "mattened" instead of "scrapped off",
try treating the bold spot with some sand paper and it might recover.

there are products that are made for cleaning suede, you can get one of those sprays and a suede brush and find a video on youtube on how to do it. but cobbler is best option imo

I managed to get several spots of blood off a taupe suede jacket by very lightly dabbing it with peroxide on the end of a Q-Tip. My cobbler got motor oil off of the same jacket, though, so that is probably a better idea.

Prepare the necessary materials: You will need a suede brush or a soft-bristled toothbrush, a suede eraser or a pencil eraser, a clean cloth or towel, and a suede protector spray (optional).

Start by using the suede brush or soft-bristled toothbrush to gently brush off any loose dirt or debris from the shoes. Brush in one direction to prevent damaging the suede.

If there are any scuff marks or stains on the shoes, use a suede eraser or a pencil eraser to gently rub them away. Apply light pressure and work in a circular motion. Be careful not to rub too vigorously, as this could damage the suede.

After removing the scuffs or stains, use the brush again to restore the nap of the suede. Brush the shoes in back-and-forth motions to bring back the soft texture.

If your shoes have a water stain, you can try holding the stained area over steam for a few seconds, being careful not to get the shoes too close to the steam source. Once the suede is slightly damp, use a brush to restore the nap.

To clean taupe suede women's shoes, start by gently brushing off dirt with a suede brush. For stains, use a white eraser or vinegar-dampened cloth. Always follow care instructions.

To clean taupe suede women's shoes:
                            1. Brush Off Loose Dirt:
                              • Use a suede brush or an old toothbrush to gently remove loose dirt and debris. Brush in one direction to avoid damaging the suede.
                            2. Blot Stains:
                              • For wet stains, use a clean cloth or paper towel to blot the excess moisture. Do not rub; blotting helps absorb the liquid.
                            3. Dry Stains:
                              • For dry stains, use a suede eraser or a pencil eraser to gently rub the stained area. This can help lift off dry marks.
                            4. Steam Treatment:
                              • Hold the shoes over steam (not too close) to open up the suede's pores. Brush the suede gently during this process. This can help revive flattened nap.
                            5. Suede Cleaner:
                              • Use a specialized suede cleaner. Apply a small amount to a clean cloth and gently rub it onto the stained area. Follow the product instructions.
                            6. White Vinegar Solution:
                              • Mix equal parts white vinegar and water. Dab a clean cloth into the solution and gently blot the stained area. Allow it to air dry.
                            7. Avoid Water:
                              • Minimize water usage as it can leave water stains on suede. If water is necessary, use a damp (not wet) cloth.
                            8. Protect with Spray:
                              • Consider using a suede protector spray after cleaning. This can help repel future stains and water.
                            9. Stuff with Paper:
                              • Stuff your shoes with plain paper or a shoe tree to help them retain their shape as they dry.
                            10. Air Dry:
                              • Allow the shoes to air dry naturally. Avoid using direct heat sources like hair dryers, as they can damage suede.
                            11. Brush Again:
                              • Once the shoes are dry, brush them again to restore the suede's texture and appearance.

Always test any cleaning method in a small, inconspicuous area first to ensure it doesn't cause damage to the suede. If the shoes are particularly valuable or delicate, it might be wise to consult with a professional cleaner.
