What's funny, rider, is that I saw your post on my phone earlier, but only read it – hadn't clicked on the link to see the actual image yet – and I thought to myself "How cute if she penciled in some little heels on that drawing".

Then bam: I clicked, you penciled, I grinned.

And that's how easy it was to start my morning off well. :)

              Alice's Shoes - Catherine Giacomini (2005)

A friend of mine named Catherine Giacomini created these in 2005 and showed them with us when I was organizing the Area shows in Paris for independent designers. The shoe was part of the collection entitled "Alice goes Me(n)tal." She was one of the original (and that means original) Martin Margiela Paris team members for many years (when MM was an independent firm) until the sell-offs began to the Italians. She left in 2004 to create her own collection in Paris which was picked up in the first few seasons by Armand Hadida at L'Eclaireur in Paris and Italo Lazzari in Treviso, and she later showed with us at Area. She eventually left Paris and now lives I believe, in her home town in Sweden where she is raising her family. She's a great person and a great talent, and she did some great work that unfortunately the retailer community at that time just didn't get (along with a lot other great independents) for a lot of reasons. The shoes are a masterpiece, this one pair was the only one ever made as far as I know- she was great at metalwork and she made them completely by herself- they were captured in this photo (minus strapping) which was picked up and run in a Vogue Italia editorial a few months later. - Geoffrey B. Geoffrey B. Small - Do you have any idea how much I appreciate you posting that photo and taking the time to give it life with a story? Very much. Thank you.

It's my favorite new/old thing in this thread, or any other.

Might you know what happened to the shoes after their cameo in V.I.?

                      heels by Dennis Diem.
I remember this Amsterdam Fashion Week. Models were applauded when they came in with these heels. They are still used now a days to test models for their catwalk runs...

I went on a stalker mode for the boots, found them and kept them for a few years, only to finally sell them a few weeks ago.
