This sentiment betrays that you don't travel internationally. Only the United States is stuck in the last decade. Our country is now the most backward in the developed world in terms of infrastructure of all kinds yet we keep telling ourselves that we are number 1.

Some good "fleur de sel", and a really good olive oil.
..the bread from my local bakery.

When in season; black truffles, shaved on eggs for breakfast is a fine way to start the day.

And a free (small luxury) one every monday; the podcasts from CLR.net
And another free one.. opening the packaging of coffee beans.
And another free one.. the lingering leather smell of a good jacket, or shoes e.t.c
And another free one.. the smell of my girlfriend.

Yes, you're right: I was referring to domestic travel, where unless I take a nonstop flight, the layovers can be mind-splitting. In contrast, I'm pretty lucky with international travel – maybe because I'm usually running through the airports, rather than sitting around waiting.

You guys should see how the US tries to feed a vegan on a flight. The balsamic vinaigrette isn't even vegan. Raw lettuce and bread for me.

I'd never be so suicidal as to fly domestic with stops. It's terrible enough to fly within the US in the first place.

Once upon a time, it was a necessity between certain cities on opposite sides of the country.
Luckily, JetBlue came along and successfully nudged the razor away from my wrist.
They don't do first class, but who cares. I always get the specific seat I want.
That small luxury comes not with money, but with knowing what to say.

Aesop. I've drunk the koolaid. Expensive but it just smells so good - subtle yet rich.

It's a total joke. But then, so is everything edible on any domestic flight.
That whole mealtime/tray thing.. like a giant cafeteria in the air.
The only thing worth consuming on a U.S. flight is the liquor.
But you didn't hear that from me.
