Rick Owens Paris Apartment profiled in the WSJ

    "American Gothic
Designer Rick Owens moved from California to Paris a decade ago, bringing his signature blend of glamour and grunge to the namesake fashion and furniture lines he launched there—and inspiring legions of fans and imitators. An exclusive look inside his Paris home."

Article and slideshow can be found here.

It means to take control of a memory, as it flashes in a moment of danger."

I'm pretty sure this article is in the Rick Owens main thread.

Looks like the exposed ceiling would fall dust particulates into the air.

        Does anyone know this building?

I'd be curious to see what the exterior looks like; how it's contrasted with the interior...

        Is this it?

That's what comes up when I google imaged searched "socialist headquarters building paris"

That's not it. The exterior is typical Haussmanian style.

I'm not trying to blow up anyone's spot, but have you been there, Faust?

I think it mentioned in the article that there are, in fact, offices in the space, so it's not strictly a home.

If you have, I'd be very interested in the overall vibe (for lack of a better word) of the space. I can't get a really good sense of scale from the photos. Is the scale of some of the stuff in there just overwhelming?

And also what the space sounds like. Is it very quiet, or is it very reverby? Is it like walking into Berghain for the first time?

I'm not even a huge Rick fan but I do appreciate his dedication to his aesthetic, and even from interviews, you can tell he's a really genuine and sincere person.

I was only there once, and the sound didn't particularly strike me. but then it was a cocktail party, so noise was to be expected. I'm sure other SZers have more experience.

to be honest, it seems to me that the place looks more impressive in pictures than it does IRL but I haven't seen all the rooms

I have been only on the ground floor when they were converting it from the showroom space to living space, no pictures of me frolicking on Rick's bed. Space is cool - I don't like getting into designers personal lives too deep.
