Oups, broken english I guess: I've never been able to have one of his garments in my hand. They all look so great on the pictures and everyone who could feel them irl are praising those clothes like they are one of a kind. I wish I could at least feel those fabrics irl, even if it's only for a brief moment, without owning them

bukka, what do you mean you couldn't "handle" a piece from GBS? I only have one thing of his, but even a chimp would look good in it. You should dip your toe in.

If you don't mind a small financial risk, just grab something in your size on the secondhand market. I live in Vancouver and seldom travel, but the clothesporn in his thread was so appealing I gambled $300 for a blazer off rakuten and it was totally worth it.

Watch out, though. The sleeve buttons are functioning. (Should've seen that coming.) Oh well, now I just roll 'em up.

And folks ain't joking: that fabric is s-e-x-y sexy. Give in to temptation...

Meh, there isn't anything interesting on the second-hand market at the moment, besides a beautiful linen shirt. But 1'100$ is unfortunately out of my budget

          No Rick.

No Boris, but I would pounce on the shearling from a few winters ago if my size appeared on the secondary market.

Heavily into Layer-0. Alessio's work gives me the perfect snug fit without sacrificing comfort. It can be a difficult to track down particular pieces, but maybe the thrill of the hunt adds to the allure.

Should I ever decide to start cross-dressing, I'm going to be all about Uma Wang.

I'm trying to get Ziggy into my wardrobe, but I have a terrible time finding what I want in my size.

Rick Owens - The man makes great stuff, but his clothes never appealed to me (nor the sneakers). Even if I wanted to start buying RO, he needs to straighten up his production ethics...

YY - Too loose-fitting for my liking.

GUIDI -Too expensive for me right now it might be my next footwear purchase, Ideally 988's.

              ^ this.

my wardrobe isn't that diverse but I'll play:
A1923 - pricey, working to alleviate this shoe collection deficiency though..

Alexandre Plokhov - not been particularly impressed by the pieces I've handled

Ann Demeulemeester - used to own a coat and boots, too romantic for me

Boris Bidjan Saberi - never can find the pieces I like in my size. dug the high neck long coats with piping and the Brad Pitt edition grey horse leather hooded jacket from FW14, and crisp cotton cutaway collar blazer from SS15

Comme des Garçons - love checking it out at DSM but don't see myself in any of it

Deepti - seen it worn well and some of it is interesting conceptually but still feels meh to me

Dries Van Noten - enjoy seeing it but it's not for me

Elena Dawson - as per the above for PH

Individual Sentiments - dig it but wouldn't wear it, also feel that Yoko has been floundering for a few seasons now..

Layer-0 - does the InAisce collaboration count? admire Alessio's work however it doesn't vibe with how I like to dress

Lumen et Umbra - gorgeous knits, never found the right one

Obscur - quality isn't there for the price and contrived styling/pieces

Raf Simons - missed the boat, not the direction for me these days

              Thamanyah - man dresses anyone?

Yohji Yamamoto - maybe one day I'll be able to do the relaxed/oversized thing..

Ziggy Chen - some nice pieces but feel like he doesn't have his own voice..

Oh, add Dries and Haider to my list. As much as I respect their talent and lush world of explicit luxury, I'm just not the aristocratic dandy of leisure. I have a job and too many responsibilities to feel comfortable in that sort of garb. And all those colors and patterns, they look like they require the free time of someone independently wealthy to coordinate.

                  Never owned any:

Julius - like the pants but not so much the leather - prefer other brands such as RO, CCP.

Undercover - I once had the ethnic rider, but I only wore it a couple of hours and I din't feel comfortable in it. - My first and only UC experience!

Obscur - too overkill for me!

Lumet et Umbra - like some of the basics but jus hadn't find anything I just had to have

Layer-0 - not bad but not good either

Comme des Garçons - love the work a lot but despite the perfumes I haven't found it right for me.

Individual Sentiments - have seen some pieces that I really want, but I have never handled anything - maybe someday.

Ziggy Chen, like the striped feeling in this fall season a lot and I seriously have considered buying every single piece - especially the striped jacket, but I think it's too expensive.

Soloist - was obsessed with Number (N)ine when I was younger, DH 05 and N(N) was what stole my interest in fashion many years ago but the Soloist never really touched me.

TB - Maybe one day, when I become a grown up and successful man!

Scruli - creative work but haven't seen anything I would wear.

                  ...

a1923 - not yet but it will only be a matter of time before I invest in shoes and wide pants - really like it a lot - especially this season!

Carpe Diem - not to this day but wouldn't mind getting some of the older boots.

Yohji Yamamoto - hate myself for never getting anything from one of the coolest men in business! I always love seeing a full black and wide YY fit - And I want and would love to have him in in my collection, someday!..

I don't own any, but will probably do in the future :

-Carol Christian Poell. Not shoes neither jackets, only trousers and a sweater maybe.
-Designers from the Carpe Diem family except Individual Sentiments
                    -Leon Emanuel Blanck
                    -Lumen et Umbra, especially tops
                    -Daniel Andresen knits
-Ann Demeulemeester mainly shoes, because of the weird sizing in clothing

I don't own anything and probably won't buy in the future from

-Paul Harnden. Appreciate his work, but i'll need a new wardrobe to support his clothes
                    -CDG all lines
                    -Yohji Yamamoto
-Rick Owens mainline from 2012 till now. Not because of the Moldova situation, neither quality issues. Still Rick produces quite a few decent items on each season and quality issues there were back in the early days as well. Not every Rick was made equal back then, too(in terms of quality) . Just because i own stuff from 2007 to 2011 and they're quite different from the current stuff.
                    -BBS 11, prefer the mainline.
                    -Obscur

You know I've been repeatedly stalking all of the Uma Wang at Cose Ipanema (so out of my universe expensive though) and honestly I'm really shocked/surprised at how much I love her work. The fabrics have a certain opulence that I never expected I would be into but for some reason I'm incredibly drawn to it all.

I find myself looking in the women's section of the usual online retailers specifically to get a look at what Uma is up to. I do like some of the stuff she does for men but have yet to make a purchase. I almost bought a long women's skirt last winter season, but it wasn't quite long enough. I'm Victorian in the sense that I want my ankles to be covered. I may just start buying from the women's line for some future woman in my life.

This is a great thread, and I am noticing that by explaining our personal experiences with the clothes we own and those garments we seek to own, we are also revealing a lot about those aspects of a designer label which we find to be important and/or attractive. As much as I love this region of fashion, I am one to purchase clothing very sparingly. And when I spend money on any of the "SZ" brands, I typically purchase some of the higher end garments which I typically have to save money for. Thus, the portion of my closet which isn't vintage jeans and AA dress shirts, is black and small, but has been obtained exclusively with a lot of love. It fills the smallest portion of my closet which is most endearing to me.

Right now, I own a couple of garments by Julius_7, BBS, Taralis, and some DRKSHDW tops. As well, I am waiting for the completion of my special order for a CCP suit, which I am incredibly excited for. Tailoring has always been an obsession of mine, and after owning suits by Slimane, Horikawa and Taralis in the past, the craftsmanship and aesthetic which CCP offers has shown me that this suit will probably be the most beautiful garment I have owned to date. In the past, I have owned a couple of Dior Homme (Slimane era), Raf Simons, Lost & Found, Jil Sander, Julius_7, and Ann D pieces as well, but have gotten rid of these for various reasons, or simply worn them to death.

Now, I want to talk about some of the designers whose work interests me but I have not purchased to date:

-Rombaut_I have found that I like clothing far more than I like shoes and accessories, and that can probably be noticed when I wear my favorite pair (a pair of beat to death Dr. Martens combat boots). Rombaut utilizes some truly amazing materials on some of his shoes, like tree bark, and such gives his work a very interesting texture and appearance. I also like the fact that a lot of the shoes he designs are sneaker and boot hybrids that don't look awful (like some L&F shoes), this gives the shoes a comfortable weight as they are worn. Lastly, I am a strong supporter of any designer who at least attempts to make his/her production a bit more sustainable than that of others.

-Sandrine Philippe_I definitely love some of the jackets which have recently appeared online. The coats have voluminous dimensions, and are made with materials which have a beautifully grotesque aspect to them, like treated furs, and distressed woolens. Also, her tailoring reminds me of some of Ann D's dinner jackets and and tailcoats, but in materials which have far more texture, with cuts that are more form fitting, and a very poetic and storytelling design.

Inaisce_After all of the information available about Sees on this website, and the pieces I have seen, I definitely look forward to obtaining a couple of pieces by him. I especially like the tunic like look of his long shirts, and they are made from materials that appear to be knit instead of woven. They look incredibly comfortable, and could be worn perfectly under a blazer or a cardigan. As well, I appreciate his distaste of consumerism.

Zam Barret_The construction and attention to detail on all of his creations is awesome. I really appreciate his story as a designer, how be brought his factory and his brand to fruition, and how meticulously he sources his fabrics to be made locally (or in Jamaica, for those awesome hand-made buttons). In my list of garments to obtain, I definitely want the "Razor" coat in a size 44 (as hard as it may be to find that small), and one of his thick hooded and gloved coats as well.

With all due respect, it's not all that surprising that folks here wouldn't own Haider, TB or Dries, despite appreciating their work.

I don't have any A1923, Lumen et Umbra (anymore) or Layer-0, but I'm looking to scratch at least one of those off the list with my next purchase.

Julius, Label Under Construction and Inaisce are all lines where I'll occasionally see something I really like, but never seem to pull the trigger.

I seem to be perennially on the fence about Siki Im and Margiela, the latter specifically for tailored pieces. I actually do own a MMM tuxedo but I can never decide whether the classic cuts of the suits are right for me, so I've been holding off.

And this might be a product of having never handled it in person, but I don't get Deepti.

Haha, I've got a good chunk of wardrobe that I'd purchased imagining that I could someday share it with a similarly proportioned cute punk girl. We'd be like Sid and Nancy, except Jun and Takahiro instead of Vivienne and Malcolm. One can dream...

Layer-0 - mostly $$ but am in love with a pair of boots for sale here and will definitely be buying those or some as they are next on list

                                Ann D - doesn't appeal to me

Damir Doma - would like some old pieces one day

yyph - used to have a pair of derbies 2 sizes too big and did like, would like to add some of the pants one day get my flow on

Isaac Sellam - love love love it but too much $$

Carpe Diem/m.altieri lines - want most of it but I think in the end wouldn't look good on me but will buy cdiem boots in future, I think a lot of the time price is fair but they sell quick (on a side note m_moriabc doesn't interest me and its nothing to do with price)

Guidi - nearly pulled trigger so many times but I'll just be wishing I had carpes the whole time I think, toe shape not for me but maybe some bone derbies/ankles would be great

Individual Sentiments - do want, can't afford

Most of it is due to not being able to handle so a lot of the time. I am unsure and just not confident with looking online so end up not buying even when I have the cash. Probably easier to list what I have as I don't have a lot. But I won't.

I just recently added Devoa to my wardrobe and more coming so that's me happy for now.
