There's a Harrolds outlet store at the Crown casino in Melbourne with really great deals on past season stuff like Rick, Isaac Sellam, Margiela etc

Add MA+ to that too! I'm guessing they get a good amount of their stocks from Eastern Market.

assin melbourne closed its doors for the final time

the store that introduced owens , undercover , anne and boris to the melbourne uninitiated is no more

rick arrivals circa 2005/2006 the most memorable retail experiences in melboure albeit ten years ago....

sad now.... that for every decent store closing, ten purveyors of crap sprout up
like what is that masons all about ? junya with philippe starck perfumes ....and 450 year old single malt
and gucci super store where alas all former denizens of small and extra small paul harden now gather in small brightly coloured flocks
        and left about to phoenix
        and
        enough ranting

just a gentle raise of the sake cup to Fernanda and her team

I would imagine it's especially hard on the Aussie shops to compete against the Internet, since they cannot compete on price. Without a hardcore local clientele, that's quite impossible.

It's funny, when StyleZeitgeist blew up, we were all complaining about bandwagoneers, and now that the trend has passed and people who had no real interest in these brands have moved on, as fashionistas do, we are lamenting, too.

Assin in Sydney was my entree into the avant garde. I went to the store to buy some Dior Homme jeans in 2008 or so, and an entirely new world opened up to me. My bank balance was never the same again!

Australia definitely struggles, but Melbourne is still a helluva lot better for SZ-style clothing than Sydney...

Oh shit, no wonder it was closed when I visited last weekend! Sad indeed, I wonder who's taking up that gorgeous space? Maybe another hype sneaker store D:

                so why did they close?
tbh, i've never bought anything from them, but since everyone wants rick 11BBS and off-white atm they shouldn't have problems doing business

their buys were sorta weird and running out of small sizes. when i found something nice the markup was absurd. i only buy from cose and EM...
                too skinny for rick

I don't recall seeing any 11BBS there, it was only mainline IIRC. No wonder they had no answer when I asked when they would be bringing in new stocks, cos the racks were pretty sparse at the time.
