    Your last music purchase

In a time when most seem to either get their music via torrents (maybe not so much anymore, since What.cd closed down), YouTube, Spotify, Tidal or other streaming services, it would be nice to see if people are still purchasing music. Files or physical media doesn't matter, but a monthly subscription doesn't really count.

I specify Bandcamp where possible, since I much more prefer that option if I can, trying to give more money into the artist's pockets.

My purchases since 1st of September:
Coil - The Ape of Naples (CD, Import Records, reprint)
Bully Fae - Defy A Thing To Be (FLAC, Bandcamp)
Katie Gately - Color (FLAC, Bandcamp)
Katie Gately - Pipes/Acahella (FLAC, Bandcamp)
Katie Gately - Katie Gately (FLAC, Bandcamp)
    Troller - Graphic (FLAC, Bandcamp)
Carla dal Forno - You Know What It Is Like (FLAC, Bandcamp)
Siavash Amini + Zenjungle - Topology of Figments (FLAC, Bandcamp)
Biosphere - The Hilvarenbeek Recordings (FLAC, Bandcamp)
    Biosphere - Departed Stories(FLAC, Bandcamp)
Anna von Hausswolff - Källan (Prototype), Live in Lincoln cathedral (FLAC, Bandcamp)
Leonard Cohen - You Want it Darker (WAV, 24-bit)
Burial - Young Death / Nightmarket (FLAC)
    Mika Vainio - Mannerlaatta (FLAC)
Sophia Loizou - Singulacra (FLAC, Bandcamp)
Kristian Westergaard - Grey (FLAC, Bandcamp)
Loscil - Endless Falls (FLAC, Bandcamp)
Vladislav Delay - Tummaa (FLAC, Bandcamp)
Gates - Palace of Mirrors (FLAC, Bandcamp)
Lustmord - Purifying Fire (FLAC, Bandcamp)
    Machinefabriek - Crumble (FLAC, Bandcamp)
Otto Lindholm - Otto Lindholm (FLAC, Bandcamp)
Mark Pritchard - Under the Sun (WAV 24-bit)

Yes! Coincidentally, I was browsing the Internet yesterday for the best-recorded CDs, as I am putting together my holiday wish list and updating my CD collection. I am still considering dipping my toes into HD streaming, just need to get my ass to actually do it.

    Latest: All on CD

Leonard Cohen - You Want It Darker
    The Cure - Disintegration
    Joy Division - Substance
    Atoms for Peace - Amok

I will be buying lots of "greatest hits," like Pink Floyd's albums, so it will be a boring list :-)

This year, from what I can think of...

Jessy Lanza - OH NO (CD)
          Botany - Deepak Verbera (CD)
          datfootdive - Mother (Bandcamp, .wav)
El Mahdy Jr. - Die Before You Die (Bandcamp, cassette)
Sensate Focus - Deviation Heat-Treated EP (Vinyl)
          Hugo Jay - Spent (Cassette)
Various Artists - Outdoor Games (Bandcamp, cassette)
          Drape - Forage (Bandcamp, .wav)
          Drape - EVENSONGS (Bandcamp, .wav)
Huerco S. - For Those Of You Who Have Never (And For Those Of You Who Have) (Bandcamp, .wav)
Huerco S. - Colonial Patterns (Bandcamp, .wav)
          Rachel's - Systems/Layers (Vinyl)
          Kode9 - Nothing (Japanese CD)
Will Long & DJ Sprinkles - Long Trax (CD)
DJ Sprinkles - Midtown 120 Blues (CD)
          DIANA - Familiar Touch (CD)

Most likely, in the very near future:
Mark Ernestus & Obadikah - April (.wav)
The Fun Years - All their albums (Bandcamp, .wav)
Moritz von Oswald & Juan Atkins - Borderland (whatever format I can get it in)

EDIT: Somehow I forgot that I bought that limited edition Gas vinyl box set that came out this year. Considering how much I spent on it, you'd think I wouldn't've.

I always pay for my music on principle since I'm a musician and wish people would value my work as something worth paying for. After accumulating boxes and boxes of CDs, I've switched to buying almost everything on iTunes with the occasional exception for something really special.

            Recent physical purchases:

(Weyes Blood- Front Row Seat to Earth)

            (Clams Casino- Rainforest)

Nice to see I am not the only one then. Earlier I used to treasure the artifact and there was a time when I never ever could see myself paying for a digital file. Today is the total opposite. I still do enjoy the vinyl record sleeves or well done CD packaging, but for the most part, it is the music I am after. This can easily be detected in my list above, where only one release was physical. The convenience of buying through Bandcamp, with instant access, is simply amazing.

In the rare cases when I do get a CD, I use it once – to rip it onto my hard drive.

ian+, nice to see Deathspell Omega there. Have missed this release, so thanks for the tip. When I saw it in your list I realized I had some more physical releases purchased during this period (I am sure you already know of Teitanblood, but if not, do check them out):

              Teitanblood - Purging Tongues (12")
              Paul Jebanasam - Continuum (LP)
              Plastikman - Closer (CD)
Robert Lippok - Open Close Open (CD)

Shifts, I still can't see myself going entirely digital. I always try to go the analog route if possible. When a vinyl is not available I 'll buy the cd. Although I admit that this habit of mine has become excruciating in regards to electronic music where singles and EP's, not albums, are the standard. Deathspell's synergy sold out in physical form but i guess that's not problem for you :)
Teitanblood used to be a favorite, I am getting a bit tired with them nowadays.

I bought this recently and I still can't believe that I didn't learn about this earlier. I've been listening to it like twice a day.

Also, does anyone know where I can get a physical copy of 0% by Ichiko Aoba?

Give Discogs a try if nothing else works. Five copies for sale there at this moment. Pricey though: https://www.discogs.com/sell/release/4973501?ev=rb

Ah sorry. Usually Discogs is quite accurate, so took that %-sign as a typo.
