After I bought that Chord Mojo DAC, my music consumption has shot through the roof. There is probably a quite low causality between audible changes connected to DAC purchase and my consumer habits, but it has made me focus on what should be important when it comes to your hifi: The music.

I see too too many members on hifi forums who spends an insane amount on equipment, but seem to almost spend none on the software so to speak. When spending as much as I did on a DAC which wasn't really needed, I just felt compelled to put more money where it counts. I think.

FLAC from Bandcamp unless stated otherwise:

        Second Woman - Second Woman
        Eleh - 11.9.16
Eleh - Circle Four: 100 Gongs For Arieto
        Eleh - Empty Summer Endless
        Eleh - Radiant Intervals I
Matt Christensen - Winter Solstice 2016
        Grouper - Paradise Valley
        Drøne - Schubert Dip
Yodok III - IIII (CD, Bandcamp)
Future Sound of London - Environment Five (FLAC, fsoldigital.com)
Yodok III - Yodok III (2CD box, from artist via Discogs)
Yodok III - The Mountain Of Void - Live At Roadburn (CD box, from artist via Discogs)

Would like to bring some extra focus to the Yodok III - IIII release. It came out late 2015, but had it come out this year, it would have topped my year list. Holy shit what an intense experience this album is. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone with some interest in drone/experimental/noise jazz. Or to anyone who hasn't heard anything interesting for a while.

My daughter gave me the 24-bit remastered Dark Side of the Moon (Revisited) CD. I know it's not the original but it sounds incredible!

Nice gift though and it is such a classic recording! Haven't gone back to any of those remastered Pink Floyd releases, but I really should.

On that topic (remastered, hi-res) I wish it could be better specified if the original recording was done at 44 kHz, 48 kHz, 96 kHz or whatever it was and if the new hi-res release has simply been upsampled (which adds nothing but file size). It would pain me to pay the high price for a hi-res download, only to sit there with upsampled CD-standard (44 kHz).

I would like to see a list of contents, similar to what we see on food or fragrances, to make it harder to dupe the customer.

            ----

            Since last my last post:
Lustmord - The Monstrous Soul (FLAC, Bandcamp)
Arve Henriksen - Cartography (CD, Discogs)
Henryk Górecki / Dawn Upshaw, London Sinfonietta, David Zinman ‎– Symphony No. 3 (CD, Discogs)
Swans - The Seer (FLAC, Bandcamp)

Daft Punk - Random Access Memories on CD. Not that I haven't heard it, but wanted to hear it properly. It's brilliantly produced, as expected.

Shifts, how do you play your FLAC files? I am thinking to get a Mac Mini and set it up as a music server in my system.

                            Great thread!

Just picked up Dexter Gordon's Go (trying to bulk up my jazz collection right now, currently on a Blue Note Records kick, last purchase from their label was Street of Dreams - Grant Green) and Leonard Cohen's Songs of Love and Hate from the record shop -- should go without saying but I highly recommend this album, my personal favourite of all his works.

I am using the software Swinsian. Have been a long-time fan of iTunes on OSX, but now was the time to break this friendship. Swinsian is like iTunes used to be, but with bigger file support, ability to switch sampling frequency, not slow like a turtle, easy to edit many tracks at the same time. It supports Airplay as well, which is a good bonus.

Have also been thinking of adding a Mac Mini and setting it up as a music server, but then the problem for me would be that Swinsian cannot be remotely controlled via some nifty app.
