Avantster, Uniqlo indeed marked up the garments by a small percentage: a trench I got from Japan for $66 is $80 here. Not much, but higher.

Avanster, yes the price are naturally marked up. The basic cashmere sweater is $100, although many of them are marked down to $80 for the opening.

I went to Loehmann's the other day. [+o(] Pretty bad, but I managed to dig up a great pair of cropped blue Marni trousers on clearance. They also had a boatload of Lanvin, just languishing on a rack, awaiting the inevitable damage. [:S]

And at the MMM sample sale:

Faded red sweatshirt with big hood and insanely long (floor length) sleeves

White button down shirt, with a transparent, flesh colored insert between the buttons, so it looks permanently unbuttoned. Basic, but twisted, and very good.

There were other nice things, none of which I can justify this year, unfortunately.

Laika, I really hope you went back today. It was 70% off of wholesale price - it was basically ridiculous.

Anyway, I got for myself;

Another wallet (this one works!)

A pair of wool black dress pants that were recut from a bigger size (I remember loving them in the Margiela store in London, so getting them now felt sweet).

A pair of black narrow (not skinny) denim jeans.

A long sleeve black cotton top with horizontal textured stripe and textured shoulder detail.

...and some Margiela stuff to sell on Ebay, which should make my haul free.

Sounds like a good haul! Which wallet did you get?

I did go back. Got a deep red inside out cardigan for a steal.

I was amazed how much Margiela stuff was left! It seems like only the MM6 stuff really moved. Unfortunately, the things I really wanted (trousers, skirts) were not my size. But I am really trying to save some mony for the sales, anyway.

Laika, I got the beige one, painted gold inside with a little ring for a chain and an insert for a single key - there is something about that insert that just makes me smile, as in clever-gimmick-but-so-clever-that-even-though-i-know-it's-a-gimmick-it's-cute kind of way. There isn't a picture of it on the margiela site, but i'll snap one.

It was a no-brainer. I've sold about 25 of them a year ago for anywhere from $170-200.

Posted this on SF but thought I'd put it up here. Wanted the spring 06 cloak trench but bulked at the price ($1156) for an unlined cotton trench coat. Grabbed it for $623 (roughly) NEW on yahoo auctions. Very pleased....

The wallet sounds good, Faust! I like things with a sense of humor.

The Cloak trench is an impressive purchases as well. Good for work, I imagine.

A pair of Dries shoes that I found on clearance at Century 21. The best deal I have ever gottten there. They are adorable on and ridiculously comfortable.
