I certainly did not mean to connote that outsourcing shoemaking is somehow inferior. It's just a completely different process from making clothes, so it makes sense. m.a.+ makes virtually everything except the shoes in house, but it would require pretty much setting up an entirely different workshop and hiring people with a totally different set of skills to make shoes on premises.
I was just at GUIDI and saw the entire shoemaking process from start to finish (they literally made a pair of boots from scratch just so I could see), and it was an amazing experience, but the point is it wouldn't make a difference if they owned the production facility or not.
