I wonder if they handle their own shipping, or whether it's done by DHL

Exactly. Especially when it comes to knits. Italy is one of the only proper places to get knits done, for instance. The brand I work with does everything in New York except knits, because NYC just doesn't have the skilled workers or heritage.

This. It's absolutely normal, I just began imagining a rube goldberg assemblage where every aspect is outsourced down to the design, all revolving around a hollow core devoid of concept.

But what does this mean for Margaret Howell? I know they have been working with the same producers as Inis Meain before and also as I have been working with the brand for 2 years now I always thought almost everything of it was "locally" made either in Scotland or England. I just have a hard time gripping that she uses Fox Brothers for some of her coats and the same producer as Vetements for her knits. Im not saying the knits from Vetements must be low quality, just that its weird since theyre two whole different brands ( Vet being more look/brand-based and Margaret being mostly about quality and good cuts ).

I could imagine the MHL-stuff come from the same producer though.

Also, when I said I have been working with Margaret Howell, I dont mean in first hand. I work in a store that carry the brand, so I do not get too much info on all the garments.

Fill me in if I sound stupid. :-)

Ahimsa, what about Stoll on 39th street??? I may be wrong but I think they do some production here besides their sourcing.

Despite their technology, Stoll's overall design is really just not on par. It looks really DIY/ Joanne's crafty. Good knitwear companies are some next level designers/engineers.
It comes down to craftsmanship as well as an eye for design, and in NYC it's just really hard to find unfortunately. Like if a sewer is sewing something and realizes that there should be fusible in a certain part, the ability to stop and call that out is way above than the usual producing of a bunch of pieces that end up being all fucked up.

Hi I'm doing some research on a brand and was wondering if anyone knew who makes BBS' sneakers? Is it in-house?

I highly doubt it. Shoemaking is a very specific business, usually outsourced (including the most artisanal brands like Poell, m.a.+)

Wait what? I thought Poell dripped his sneakers by his own hands.

If he does, that's still totally different than making the shoe itself.

He also personally rubs his dick on every single shoe, hence the price tag.
