When I was a boy, around seven or eight years old, I used to imagine that my life was a very long episode of what I had named "The Beau Show" where some variety of live studio audience would witness my every day and night, and criticize my every decision and action, third person omnicient. I saw the Truman show for the first time when I was about thirteen, and it blew my mind.
