my main beef is with the feel of the leather in earlier seasons. they've recently switched to horween, which is great, but you still won't get that wonderful luxe, substantial feel that you get from from ccp, guidi, m.a+, etc. the leather just isn't in the same league. (but the price point is lower...so it's not like they're ripping anybody off.)

that being said, the split heel design feature is really convenient. more people should be making shoes with it.

I personally have not worn/inspected/touched/caressed and so forth Layer-0 boots, but how sure are you in terms of the quality, many others have said they are tops. I have read from satorialoft, Layer-0 from the get go have used Guidi calf leather and Horween cordovan, I guess they stopped for a while then?

i don't know a ton about the sourcing of the hides, but i know that this recent season was sourced from horween.

from what i've seen/touched at sartorialoft and layers, the leather is not silky, tactile, malleable like guidi, to draw one parallel. it's more stiff, thin, almost brittle. i think that that leather is part of the layer-0 aesthetic. it's not like alessio (that's his name, right?) couldn't get that leather if he wanted it. i think it's a conscious choice.

that being said, i prefer thick, beefy, dare i say juicy (you guys know what i mean) leather for my boots. layer-0 doesn't fit that bill.
