        i think that it's just not right to wear a vest over a cardigan over what seems to be a button-up shirt. i might go so far as to say that it's a rule. an obscure rule.

          Michael Kard : silhouette is off, as is the combination of black/white/light brown. If you want to try and keep those pants, I'd say you'll have to go for shades of gray and brown, looser cuts for the upper part - and another pair of boots, preferably not black.

            Someone's going to kill me for this but I'll say it anyway. MM, I'm not too keen on the trousers. They're either too blue, or too loose at the bottom, and too casual for the jacket.

              Come on, what's this ?

              You're probably right for the leg opening ; colour is darker IRL though.
              But I don't understand the casual part : a short tweed jacket with loud herringbone patterns is hardly formal.

                Indeed. But something about denim just doesn't feel right to be paired with tweed. They are denim, right? I was thinking that a pair of burgundy/brown light wool trousers might bring out the colours of the tweed better.

                    Yes, that's another possibility, of course. But I don't mind pairing denim with tweed, in fact - as long as the fabric is heavy enough.

                      Credit to M-M for taking on the greatest challenge in men's dressing - how to rock blue denim.

                      I'd say the harmony between the jeans and the colour weave in the tweed gets this to an 8 out of 10.

                          IMO tweed & denim work well together. just ask Ralph Lauren ... but seriously, tweed & denim are fine together, the palette in this particular combo may be a bit off but not much.... but my critiquing mm is a bit off as well

                          @phiman:
                          jeans fit well but did you need such a big camera to take such a blurry picture?

                            MM owns jeans!?

                            You always look so great when you're out in public. Wondering what you wear while at home all day. Is your lounging around the house clothing as thoughtful as your wardrobe when other people can get a glimpse of you? I'm picturing a smoking jacket, brandy, stingray slippers and a tub of whisker wax in the washroom. I'm hoping to see a full-on handlebar mustache parked on your mug one day.

                              Far less complicated than that ; usually cord pants or old jeans and a faded jersey crewneck, with unlaced derbies. Or I just take my jacket off and leave the rest as it is. I don't drink at home, except for coffee or tea, smoke cigarettes and don't wax my mustache.

                                I don't believe this. In fact I think you twist it quite often while plotting and so I see no reason for you to not use some wax anyway as you're going through all the required actions
