Depends on which fit you like, for lots of Margiela sellers and wearers, some of them quite knowledgeable, a II is 36.

In my experience, I agree with Fuuma about Margiela sizing...

Can anyone tell me how Helmut Lang trousers fit: small, loose or true to size. I am trying to talk myself into getting a pair that I think are too big for me...

They usually fit true to size.

            Re: Sizing help

            I would say a smaller-medium. I'm a 31* in the jeans and a 48/38 in the pants.

*I wear my jeans like my trousers; ie, with enough room to tuck a shirt into. I'm not talking about a ball-crushing tightness.

Dress pants are EXTREMELY easy to alter in the waist. They're damn near constructed to be done so. If you like them, buy them and take them to any quasi-competent tailor and they'll fix them right up for you without changing the silhouette!

IIRC, those particular pants run on the slimmer side of things (especially in the legs), so you might do fine with a 52 + tailoring. It wouldn't hurt to buy them and take them to a tailor and see what he/she says.
