whenever I need to feel again, I return to the master. he was the epitome of swag. i was fortunate to have seen him 3 times and i know my world would be a lot better if he were still around to make music.

pretty fuckin amazing considering he was blitzed on multiple owsley tabs

did you come to this country on the mayflower?
i'm sorry, anyway, hendrix has an obnoxious mainstream appeal but there's no denying that he's one of the most significant musicians of the 20th century, and probably the number two most important guitarist behind Charlie Christian. Apparently Hendrix had a recording date scheduled with Miles Davis but died weeks beforehand, whether or not that's true, it's Hendrix that turned Davis on to psychedelic and rock music and between Hendrix's work and Davis' fusion work you have the foundation for quite a bit of hyper modern music being made today.

i have no idea what this means..

no mayflower but I am a civil war vet.

all i need to express about hendrix is that he has consistently and continually given me goose bumps every time I hear him. I can make that claim about very, very few artists. he is relevant and, as you stated, influential 40 years after his death and probably will always be. again, I doubt that claim will ring true for the vast majority of artists posted in this thread and even fewer that currently enjoy "obnoxious mainstream appeal"

                      anyway:

lol ... but who da fuck cares? it has nuthin to do with his music, performances or swag; speaking of which. anyone who would buy that shit clearly has no fuckin idea of who hendrix was. but, if shit like this helps perpetuate his legacy and introduces his music to new generations, it's all good.

btw: I said I saw him 3 x. I lied.. saw him 2.25 x. the .25 was @ THIS. I was a 16 yr old hs student working as a vendor @ MSG. it was a l o n g nite and I had school the next day and a long subway ride home. Hendrix was the closing act and there was no fkin way i was gonna miss him.....very disappointing.

That's the tip of the ice burg. His sister or whoever it is controlling his estate has whored out his likeness for golf ball appliques, beer, incense sticks, little tin boxes to keep all your other stupid merchandise in.
