The downtown New York store, which is in the midst of a year devoted to all things French, has revealed its latest collaboration, a capsule collection of women’s clothes and accessories called MM6 Maison Martin Margiela x Opening Ceremony for fall 2011. Opening Ceremony’s Humberto Leon says he’s been a charter member of MM6 since day one, and is “excited to see these two worlds collide.

If i am correct MM6 by maison martin margiela is a diffusion line that has nothing to do with the man himself, Even if it had been line 10 or 14 Martin Margiela has left the house named after him, so i doubt it will be a successes.Originally posted by 525252 View PostComment

I can't help but feel entirely indifferent to it. I don't think I can even care about how well its going to sell or how much of a hipster magnet it'll be. The fact that I don't care is making me a little sad.Comment

I wandered into the Margiela store in London last week to have a look at the sale.
First off, I was totally confused since the store had moved from where it was on Bruton Place - in an interesting little shop off the main thoroughfare - to a much swankier shop nearby. All the charm had gone.
Inside, the clothes could have been from any time in the last 10 years - in the main, the same old knits, cotton tees, jeans and jackets that are cycled round with tiny tweaks season after season. I was a major fan of Margiela for many years but to still be seeing the same old things is a bit sad!
It seems that without the main man at the helm the 'brand' is content just to rehash itself rather than innovate.Comment
