You should tackle Malina. It will really bend your noodle. Can't say I'm a big fan, but it's certainly a complex, abstract book.

      Better late then never,

I thought it was interesting how SZ relates: "Kings and queens who wear a suit but once, though made by some tailor or dressmaker to their majesties, cannot know the comfort of wearing a suit that fits" (Thoreau, 20). Reminds me of how often people sell stuff on here and discard their clothes after one season.

Though I think it's import to read the whole passage...

Other than the issue of an example in close proximity, this is a pretty common occurrence among people heavily into fashion. Not something I ever really related to though, either.

I never get tired of Ayn Rand. I'm sure not everyone here loves her work, but I can read it time and time again. I just ordered a series of texts, and I am really looking forward to reading We the Living.

You may want to try Chris Pichler/Nazraeli Press directly, I think he still has original editions of both - he's a great guy as well.

I do not. I can just appreciate her viewpoint. She was a brilliant writer, at least in my opinion.

Or could it be your opinion that is? ...

This conversation about Ayn Rand just caused my computer to crash.

it's ok, every time i hear her name, my brain crashes.

no offense, eris. god knows i've read some books i loved only to realize later that they were worthless. Anyway, there was a good article on Rand in the last week's New Yorker. I wish I could post it, but it's only in the digital edition, which is not copyable.

What would be a good paul auster book? I've read a few when I was younger and liked the NY atmosphere while still thinking they were sort of meh.
