its an interesting point, particularly when some pieces seem absurdly priced compared to others, even within authentic ones.

we have two made in china padded office chairs, £150 a pop and I don't have to look out for them as I would with the $2500 original. I don't usually support knock offs but the other option would've been some fugly generic office chairs.

Well there are three ways to go. Let's take the LCW for example. You can buy a VINTAGE LCW from 1946 manufactured by Evans (which I think at that point was affiliated with Herman Miller). Or you can go to DWR or Room & Board and buy a LCW made in 2009 by Herman Miller. Or you can buy one of many knock-offs.

I personally would never buy anything other than the first two. Some people argue that anything made after the 1960s isn't a REAL Eames chair, and if the chair isn't 40 years old than it might as well be a knock-off, even if it comes from Herman Miller. I think that since Herman Miller is still making the chairs to Charles and Ray's original specifications (though they've replaced Rosewood with Palisander due to sustainability issues), then the newer ones are just as good and should also be considered true Eames chairs.

This chair has been constantly manufactured for 60 years, and finding a real one isn't that difficult and you don't have to spend a fortune. And I can guarantee that none of the knock-offs are better or even equal quality to the Herman Miller ones.

that first pic of the desk looks like an optical illusion , or like looking at it through fun-house mirrors ... i like it paired with the chair though

                        I'd never buy a knock-off, but that's just me.

...especially when an authentic one isn't that expensive. Don't go for it.

sruli recht didn't make those, he made the charred wellpap ones, which remind me of the 3D animation in Autechre's video "Ganz Graf"
