Servo, what Graham said is key. If you are familiar with the brands they carry, you are off to a good start. A "good story" also seems to go far. They really hire based on how you come across. Their perception of you plays a major role, though retail experience certainly doesn't hurt. Maxfield just went through a round of hiring, so if you wanted a job with them, you missed the boat by 2 or 3 weeks. I think Chrome Hearts is hiring right now. Maxfield just hired an H.R. manager and she handles the hiring for Chrome Hearts as well. So you could get your foot in the door there and possibly transfer over to Maxfield. I believe that's a possibility.

I know from speaking to the guys at RO in Paris that they don't hire people with lots of retail experience, only people with a good look and a good story.

It's not hard to learn retail but I think the art of 'the sale' is something that people either have or they don't have.

Can you imagine what it is like to try and sell some of these brands to the guy who just dis-embarked the cruise ship here in Vancouver in his board shorts, visor and fanny pack?

                    Re: Carol Christian Poell

It was a bill introduced here in California in 2005 to protect endangered species and kangaroo was included in the code. There is a pending amendment to the bill allowing non-endangered kangaroo to be allowed in, but who knows when that will pass. So for the time being Kangaroo is off the menu as well.

Kangaroo meat has been legal for local consumption in NSW for about 10 years now, and I believe it's been exported for more than fourty years.

I'm not so sure about hides/leather/fur but they are all currently exported as well.

They're not farmed though. Don't ask me why I remember but kangaroos actually emit less methane than other animals like cows or sheep... save the planet, support the kangaroo industry? LOL. (I'm kidding.)

let us raise a toast to ancient cotton, rotten voile, gloomy silk, slick carf, decayed goat, inflamed ram, sooty nelton, stifling silk, lazy sheep, bone-dry broad & skinny baffalo.

I wasn't so much exactlyp wondering about Maxfield, more just a general question about higher-end boutiques and what they look for. I appreciate the responses, Campbell / DHC. Something to think about.

Well.. Kangaroo is native to the Aussies.. so.. I doubt it is illegal in Australia. Actually they are infested with so much of it that they are trying to get rid of it... and yes the roo meat is yummy.. my most memorable meat ... [66]
