LOL - not to worry, I was just having lunch with a friend and couldn't remember Sean Penn's name - brain farts happen. Reminded me of those goofy "your mama" jokes - "your mama is so stupid, when she worked at the M&M's quality control, she would throw out all the W's" [:)]

Thanks. Not sure if it's a replica - it's line 11, which signifies accessories, but nothing else.

I like dark & natural colors with flashes of white & artifice, and I want to try something new...

            Pierre Hardy boots.

My inspiration for the look (which I am going to emulate in silhouette and color) is taken from Helmut Lang's last fall collection in 2004 (RIP):

The only thing that is really holding me back is a) I have never worn white shoes (too many kswiss around here, leaves a bad taste in my mouth) and b) white casual shoes are a bit of a trend right now, and I have to decide if this is something I will like in a few years or not, or if this is just a crazy idea.Thoughts?

Does anyone remember seeing this Ann grandad shirt when it was in the shops? I think I the salmon pink colour is the same as on the safari-style shirts with epaulettes she did for SS06, which was beautiful. I know a lot of you black-ophiles are probably revolted by it, but anyway... yes or no?

Macuser, I'm also considering buying some white semi-formal shoes like you. My favourite pair were from this summer's Jil Sander collection, with pinprick holes in them. But... I have a white leather wallet that went brown within about a week of buying it and I've never found a way to clean it effectively. Thought I should try and sort that out before I take the plunge with shoes.

Good point about cleanliness... I will do some digging on keeping white leathers white.Depending on your skin tone, I would definitely buy that shirt. It's a beautiful, sutble color, which are hard to find in menswear.

Macuser, I believe there is such a thing as white leather polish? My boyfriend had a vintage white leather jacket cleaned, and it came out very well.

Those are really beautiful shoes, btw.

dontbecruel--yes, if you have dark hair, and don't have too much pink in your skin-tone. It's a gorgeous color. There was one SS06 shirt that I loved, with polka dota of the same shade and epaulettes.

Yea, keeping white shoes clean is a major hassle, I'd imagine more so in WA, where it rains a lot. DBC, while I like the color, I am not sure if it's worth the dough - it looks kind of like underwear.

I'm of the opinion that white shoes look best dirty and grungy. I dunno what it is but I tend to distrust people that have spotless white shoes because it takes a certain concerted effort to keep them that way. I used to wear white dress shoes like this couple years ago but now I think the look feels too calculated for my tastes; this is just my opinion though..

Laika, I loved that polka dot shirt and was planning to buy it at Liberty but someone beat me to the trigger.

Faust, I agree that it basically looks like a thermal, and I probably shouldn't spend 50 quid on it, but I have a bit of a thing about button-up undershirts at the moment, so I don't know if I'll be able to resist.

True, I doubt I would keep them spotless simply because there isn't any fun in that, though I would like tokeep them reasonably cleanand free of mudstains etc.As nice as Bannisters look, they're just too busy for my tastes.

i am unsure whether or not i should keep this jil sander dress. it fits well, is gorgeous, etc but it's quite delicate and i'm afraid i will ruin it too quickly. it was only $132 so it's not really that much, but that money could possibly be put to better use.

how regularly would you wear it?

i could see it in my rotation at least once a month. it's something i would wear to work or around town. with a long black tee and tights when it gets cold. the fabric is silk georgette... quite thin, but there's a couple layers on the dress as well as a slip to resist sheerness.
