So can I. You gotta think that this guy's idea of beauty is seriously warped :-). Besides, isn't she his financial underwriter?
Ahh, it makes so much more sense now. haha.
That is interesting pic of him though, that guy is seriously yoked. Ah, to each his own; Hell, he makes some killer clothes, so I'm all for whatever he's doing.

Man, for a woman who is so rich... you'd think she'd get better photos taken!

It's one of the oddest couples out there!

It's an odd couple because Rick clearly takes REALLY good care of his body. He obviously works out quite a lot. With all of his prestigious work and passion for draping (especially the female form) I would have thought that his girlfriend would be a woman I'd envision as his muse.

    .... not a snaggletooth.

    Weeee!

I thought Rick was gay to be honest. But yeah either way, as long as he's pumping out good clothing nothing else matters.

Owens should model for figure classes, I'd love to draw him. Veins make great details, and he's got what looks like kind of a weird physique.

For the fans of Rick's personality it is my duty to report that Barneys has a DRKSHDW tee with a print of Rick blowing his brains out. A very phallic image too, that long barrel in his mouth...

I have to say though - his jackets are amazing... again. He may be a one-trick pony, but the trick gets me all the time, dammit :-)

    well, he is, actually.

bisexual now that he has a woman in his life, there was an article on hint mag (ill try to find it and post a link.) about his sexuality among other things.........

I like the quality of his work, and the way he treats fabric, also the fact that a lot of his clothing covers a womans body, but i dont like this kind of suicidal, crazy crap that he is doing.

“You know,” he says, with a resilient smile, “it is a hard world for poets.”

I like a lot of his stuff, but I find that shirt quite disturbing and dumb[N]

I think this shirt is fine, and Rick Owens is obviously taking an artist point of view on this...I really don't like the hateful comments made just earlier.

Appros the discussion of design concept in the Poell Thread (from the hintmag article):

"Okay, but I'm not doing anything very conceptual. My main concept is you don't have to be so conceptual. I'm minimal and straightforward. When I explain it to people, I compare a William-Adolphe Bouguereau painting with a Brancusi sculpture. I'm the Brancusi sculpture, just a slab of metal on a hunk of wood, but it's about the right piece of metal, the right hunk of wood and the perfect gesture."

Thanks for the quote, pbt. What is your interpretation?

I like the idea--"the right piece of metal, the right hunk of wood." I think he's got that down ok. The "perfect gesture," however, is not so evident.

I'm not offended by the t-shirt at all, but I agree with dbc that it, and Rick's "persona" are pathetic. Pathetic is exactly the right word--it is precisely the source of my repulsion.

...I mean the ephemeral, the fugitive, the contingent, the half of art whose other half is the eternal and the immutable.
