    Re: Watches

the militare is a 2005 left handed special edition.. retailed around 7 or 8 k.. now, it is worth about 20k as there are only 1000 made.. So, as for spending the $$ on a watch.. dollar down and euro up.. plus limited editions = big price increases.. i have been flipping panerais for years. it can be very profitable..

those big bangs look nice as well.. especially the triple black. .

I agree about the prices. Here are 3 that are really expensive but also really beautiful:

[quote user="pipcleo"]seems pretty bizarre that anyone who throws down regularly 3 , 4 or 5k on material would question the economics of a 5 k watch.
It is afterall on the wrist often..

panerais were way always exquisite watches...... long before there was such an animal as a cool watch

I'm with you on this. It seems that on boards like TimeZone it is a $10,000 watch with a $300 Tommy Bahama outfit and then on clothing boards it is $8,000 in high fashion and an $80 job from a happy meal.

I think that it is I try to make myself "well rounded" and will spend on a watch what 3 of my Thom Browne suits will cost.

Oh, meant to bump this a while ago. So, my friend is willing to sell me his Breguet at a good price, which he wants me to name. [87] I haven't seen the watch yet (I will this weekend maybe), but I love Breguet. But then, every time I think of actually buying an expensive watch, something whispers "Rick Owens leather" and I walk. [72]

yea thats basically what I think.. I know a good watch will surely outlast any clothes, but still, at the moment I'd rather spend the same amount on a ton of other nice things. maybe at some point then..

So, what's your budget currently? Are you think Swiss or another replica or something run-of-the-mill-but-looks-nice?

Which Breguet Faust (or do you just know that it's a breguet)? IMO, it's hard to compare watches and clothes. Particularly with something timeless like a Breguet, you're not taking a risk by buying one...if you get it at a good price, you will easily be able to sell it later. There's something cool about wearing something that you know could become an heirloom eventually, also.

I don't have enough info yet, Real Real. All I know is that it's an entry level model, one of the classique, with a strap, two dials, gold case. I'll find out more soon.
