Anyway, my bro is an english major/professor, and I'm looking to get him a nice book. My only criteria is that it is a great read, fiction, and has great packaging/presentation. I don't like to give books that aren't designed well. I'm not talking limited edition Taschen, but something nice. Any suggestions? thanks.
I wish Steadman would illustrate Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and not the worthless The Curse of Lono. That could be a good gift.

There is always The Little Prince, haha. :-) I got my daughter Alice in Wonderland with original illustrations.

Ok, so I guess the answer is no, I don't really know :-(

I used to be obesessed with LEGOs as a kid but I know my 7 year-old self would be bored to tears if someone got me the guggenheim kit and expected me to build it.

        Sorry dude

The prefab LEGOs seem lame to begin with. I only like those where you can build things yourself. Isn't it all about letting the kid be creative?

^ exactly my sentiments. i used to have thousands of various lego bricks from different kits, but i never built the proposed construction and rather tried to use my imagination.
damn, this really evokes some long forgotten childhood memories

I know I'm probably gonna get shit for this, but just get kids things they would probably like. I know parents (mine included) would always try to get me something educational or something that somehow benefit me in the long run (bless them).

I hated all that stuff. I just wanted action figures, videogames, model kits and sports shit. Anything else would never be touched and end up sitting on the shelf.

Let kids be kids while they can, they'll grow out of that stuff anways.

something to induce outdoor activity, once it gets warmer. a skateboard maybe? with a box of bandaids...

                          karate lessons?

If I remember my brother at that age..... (and if you want to torture his parents)

some sort of nerf dart/foam ball gun.

he loved stuff like this, and my dad practically had to wear a jock strap around him.

but just like anything, it depends on the kid.

/\ definitely! i was going to suggest one. i bought one for my daughter - we build forts out of building blocks and then wreck them with a nerf. i think i enjoy it more though. she is too much of a pacifist.

                                haha

I loved building forts too, and lego, and ant farms and stuff like that. The barbie phase was very short-lived and mostly consisted of me making clothes for them or making them have sex. haha
