^ are you referring to raw as to not cooked at all or just vegetarian? Kind of confused because you were only referring to meat.

While I would appreciate the 2nd (going vegetarian) I would recommend you to not consider the first. Just not healthy at all... Even with vegan food it's hard to stay healthy (keyword essential amino acid), and with only raw food? Like ... eating salad all day long? But why not try it for some time if you're so keen on it... But be well prepared that you might not be able to keep your runners carreer up at a good level ;-)

I personally am not eating much meat at all... Usually once per week meat and once fish. But it is more because of environmental and ecological reasons. I prefer to know where my meat comes from and how it has been grown etc... same goes for the fish. Thus, the meat I buy is often biological and quite expensive compared to low-budget and fatted meat. Got to set priorities with a limited budget. I prefer quality over quantity (and in addition: no personal need to eat more meat anyway).

Nostromo, sorry buddy, can't help you there. Good tea is an art itself and I am not very educated when it comes to tea. This is because I mostly drink herbs tea (verveine...). If sometimes I use green tea, I just buy some Keiko green tea whatever meets my budget - always good stuff but I dont know too much about the harvest and stuff.

A lot of people ... like on the internet or you know personal?
Sorry to be so sceptic but I think this view might be biased. I mean, how many people go out and tell that the diet (e.g. all-raw) they tried out was shit and they stopped it after a week because they were hungry or whatever.
This thing reminds me of fast; always a debate of principles. Some claim it's good for your health and you feel better, some say it's not good for your health at all...
I personally only accept the whole thing as some kind of sensibilisation to food itself - e.g. if you do not eat at all or only raw food you come and then in the end start eating normal again you just see what you got.

And if you're only doing it for concentration or whatever, there are many other points you can start to do to improve. Why be so extreme? I don't know how your daily diet usually works but you can easily go and exchange some not so good food to alternatives. Often helps alot.
I myself always had difficulties in the morning after breakfast - which has been Bircher musli at that time. Some day, I found at out that this is just too much for my sensible digestion and now I changed to semolina pudding with caramelized nuts and some fruit. Everything fine now. Plus eating less whole-weat bread than I usually do was also a good thing... What I am trying to say - small steps could IMO be better for you than going on an extreme diet.

On the raw food subject, quoted from Mike Geary, Certified Nutrition Specialist.

"First, I've noticed that there seems to be a group of people out there that tend to be a little overly "extreme" raw foodists, where they preach that we shouldn't eat any cooked foods at all.

Now don't get me wrong...I think there are HUGE benefits to trying to make a large portion of your diet raw food. However, I think we have to acknowledge that eating cooked foods as a portion of your food intake can still be healthy, and even beneficial.

For example, certain nutrients in certain vegetables are actually more easily assimilated when those vegetables are cooked.

While some vitamins may be diminished or destroyed while cooking, some vitamins are actually made more available to the body. One example is the antioxidant lycopene, which is made much more highly available to the body in cooked tomatoes vs raw tomatoes.

That's why eating a portion of your vegetables raw has benefits, but also eating a portion of your vegetables cooked can also have benefits.

Plus, we also have to realize that the human digestive system has evolved over tens of thousands of years eating a portion of food as cooked...let's face it, our ancestors DID cook a portion of their food using fire or hot water.

So my big picture take on this subject is that while there are definitely great benefits to raw food and I believe should be included as a good portion of a healthy diet, I think they can be balanced with also eating cooked foods too.

I don't see any reason to be an "extremist" in terms of only eating raw foods and never even touching cooked foods.

Another aspect we haven't covered in the raw food topic is that in some cases, there can also be certain benefits to raw animal products, such as raw milk. I know that's controversial and I won't go into all of that today (more detailed article coming soon)...

One good example is the Samburu tribe in Africa that subsist almost solely on raw cows blood and raw milk and yogurt, while eating very little plant matter...yet they disply extreme health, strength, and lack of disease.

The big picture is that the human body can adapt and thrive to almost any type of diet as long as the diet is made up of natural unprocessed foods... processed foods are the one type of food that we cannot thrive on."

That's it! Just stay natural with most of the things you eat and you should be fine (e.g. cook yourself!). Plus a seasonal, regional and balanced diet with animal products from biological growings. Best for your personal health and the environment.

            Thanks for the post.
Another point I had in my mind regarding the evolutionary argument ("Human body was made to it for thousands of years") - well, neanderthals and so forth had a pretty bad life-span, not only due to the worse medical treatment I can imagine.

Yeah I try to keep my diet to eating foods made from just one ingredient most of the time, besides a 'cheat day' once a week. Except I also eat cottage cheese and natural yogurt for snacking. I mostly eat either chicken breast and steamed veggies or egg and veggies, and a lot of raw almonds and walnuts. Oh I just realised all the protein shakes don't fall into that category lol, but that's for weight training.

I would like to go with organic foods some day but with the amount I eat (2/3 of a chicken breast or 4 egg whites and 1 yolk per meal), it would be a bit too pricey, oh the irony .

Lol Fark 3 pounds in a month is nothing. I can fluctuate up and down 3 pounds in a week depending on my week.

Raw, haha! You sound like the weather in Melbourne. When I was frequenting there, the weather was hot and cold in the same day, hot sun, rainy afternoon, freezing nights.

Munch, That's the metabolism I need now.

Dinner at the brother's place yesterday.

                      Roast Chicken

2 500g pieces of rib-eye, pan fried for 3 minutes on each side, then 10 minutes in the oven at 210º for a nice medium well.

                      Look at that.

I had the best Moroccan food at this tiny restaurant in South London but I've forgotten what the place was called.
