I was talking to my landlord (an architect) some days ago and, while he explained some of his new projects, immediately thought of this building. A few months ago, a client approached him with plans for a new family home: a house with an all-black facade.
Research showed that pitchblack paint for exteriors is hyper expensive there may be several other issues with black houses (whom I can’t remember, because I’m not an architect and didn’t understand them anyway)

So they went for a plastic net on a geometric, wooden base-grid:

which is not too far from the Luxembourg approach you mentioned. (we live close by, he may even know the project)

Apparently, black facades are more complex than we think.

The Tower of David in Caracas, Venezuela. An unfinished would-be world trade center that was taken over by poor squatters and turn into a favela housing over 3,000 people and run by gangs. Quite an emblem for everything that's gone wrong in this country and Latin America in general.

Hotel Forum in Cracow

Opened in 1989, closed in 2002. Now it is abandoned apart from ball rooms on ground floor where some gigs (including Unsound Festival) take place.
