This stack needs to be moved elsewhere, but I've run out of shelf space.

don't worry xadam, I was like that when I lived in Boston :)

Haven't renewed either since moving though... although I still like Wallpaper from time to time. Faust (and everyone else), do you have a suggestion for a good architecture/design/fashion/concepts magazine? Wallpaper really did used to be good... too much junk in there now :(

Re: What's on your coffee table

Yea, Wallpaper used to be an excellent magazine. It went downhill significantly after Time Inc. got their hands on them. Today I mostly look at Interior Design magazine, which is pretty good and aimed mostly at professionals, and I also like a Dutch magazine called FRAME, but it's very expensive, so I just look at it :-). These are both more obviously architecture/interior design. I can't think of a magazine that does it all well. Surface used to be good, again, now it's pretty lame. I still flip through Wallpaper though, some of their architecture/design stories are good. Actually, I can't think of one consistently good fashion magazine at all. I.D. comes close, but they are still stuck in their glorious 80's. Time to move on. Dutch magazine used to be really good, but it's out of print now. I honestly prefer trusting my eyes and hands in exploring what I like - magazines are too enslaved to their advertisers to offer an interesting opinion.

I have to admit to buying wallpaper quite often, I agree on it going downhill a lot but I still end up reading most issues and buying some. the only magazine I'd say I buy every time is Monocle.

Co-sign on Monocle, it's probably the only magazine I buy nowadays.

It's from the founder of Wallpaper and focuses on business and design, so it's similar to Wallpaper but with a broader range of topics.
