Re: Bikes (right section)

I have been through the custom made frame and lightweight thing. I just want to go to the shops in my jeans. These bikes are perfect for that.

Nice bike. I'm not too sure about that Top to Sloping up so much. its not very aggressive, unless your just going to cruise around.. what are your intentions with the bike?

its a fixed (well, flip flop hubs, in case i wanna freewheel) but its mainly just for commuting <2 miles from campus to my house and general urban cruising. I don't really intend on doing anything too crazy on it, just a fun basic commute. This is my first foray into single speed/ fixed, previously i just rode a bmx everywhere. I'm hoping its a good introduction bike. I love whatever you're riding though AX, it looks awesome! love the front wheel

            Chim,

From what you wrote it sounds like thats a good intro bike. I started on (and still have) a Langster. The riding position will def take some getting used to as compared to BMX, but these bikes are really fun once you adjust. They have a bit of toe overlap, and the components are decent too. Also, get a brake!

Ive been riding mine for about a year now and Im thinking of gettingsomething steel, but we'll see.

            Anyway, Good luck!

That's pretty interesting... I think those are made where I live.

I have one of those, in black.

1971 Schwinn Le Tour 3. Original color, Obviously theres some dings and such in the paint but over all solid bike. It was all original parts up until about 6 months ago when a red civic decided I wasn't going fast enough for him and wanted to let me know. Luckily I wasnt hurt, but my rims were. You can see the original rims and tires on the left side of the picture.

                          question for AKA:

Whats the secret to holding a wheelie? I can pull it up but am deathly afraid of falling backwards and paralyzing myself so I just wimp out halfway. I either just fall straight off backwards and end up holding my bike up vertically, or I don't rise high enough.

I've been interested in single gear and fixie bikes for a few years now... though I still haven't built one. I've always imagined building something that is aesthetically identical to this Raleigh One Way, so I may or may not just end up purchasing this prebuilt, though I am hesitant since I'd prefer to have something completely original and I believe the Raleigh frames are made in China. (this is a bit of crosspost, so forgive that if you've read this elsewhere.)

The white Alta on their site is phenomenal looking. I like the idea of them providing a hanger for the bike too... so as to display it on your apartment wall. Very cool concept, though it'd be nice to have more technical information on the bicycles. (manufacturing location, materials used, etc.)

I'd really like one of these Velorbis bikes, but I think I'm just going to try and build some sort of facsimile of one from like a Raleigh tourist or something.
