I think overpriced may not be the right word because they're about the same price as CCP's boots. I like them but I will agree, they look like CCP boots.

Hell, maybe these will actually go on sale.....

yeah... they're augustas. The sole is ever-so-slightly thicker and rougher constructed.

Regardless of the stylistic rip the lace-up boot is exactly what I have been hoping to see from Carol.

I guess I don't mind too much because I really love that style boot. But yea, if I'm gonna drop that much cash on that style boot, I'm gonna buy Carol, no question.

It's a pretty traditional style of boot, just abused to look old. Allen Edmonds isn't known for being super unique or cutting edge, and they had one they made forever called the Taunton.

Wish I had some money for that jacket. The small pics don't do it many favors, but the elbows are brilliant. They even have it in a 54.

Yeah. Stodgy boot, but the angled cut that makes the CCP and augusta boots distinct to my eyes is on that allen edmond gunboat and boots from many makers that have been around for years. The CCP version is prettier, and more my aesthetic than any of the others I've seen, the Allen Edmonds is . . . not so much, though that picture is unflattering.

I'm not saying that the Augusta didn't necessarily rip off the CCP, I bet they did (and meant to), I'm just saying that the CCP boots are a characteristic reinterpretation of a not unusual shape. I shoulda tracked down one that looks less bad than the Taunton.

I love Augustas. They feel much better than any CCP shoes that I have ever tried and they smell great. What more could you want in a shoe. The hockeye CCP shoes were unique but the present ones are generic in the same way that Augusta shoes are.
