Have to be seen in reality to be believed, they are entirely made of oil (wood, cardboard etc are all painted ). Takes the skill of a grand master which is all part of the joke at the art worlds expense.

                Disparate matrimonial

Really reminds me of nupta contagioso/cadevera - Negarestani ( Collapse IV, p130 ) uses this ancient torture as a jump off for exploring the various ontological conundrums of putrefaction.....

Uses details from Virgils Aeneid VIII, and also a reference from Erinensis whereby a punishment from Mezentius for the soldiers of Aneas involved them being tied together and paraded until the live bodies bonded with the dead upon their backs and a unison of decay smothered the living ( perhaps not just physically )......

                Made me connect.

EDIT - pah, no wonder, its actually printed at the end of the essay....

                  Untitled, Mark Rothko, 1969

Painted on paper as opposed to large scale canvas because by this stage his aortic aneurysm had left him too weak to do larger pieces. The smaller size makes me feel that it has a far more intimate quality and sense of vulnerability about it, which I really like. I think it is important to consider the fact that he committed suicide the year after, as much as I hate forcing the artist's oeuvre into a narrative of a progression towards an end.
