Vrubel is one of my favourite painters ever. I posted his Demon Downcast a few pages ago (I just love the eyes and the work on the feathers)

I adore Vrubel much, thankfully one of my offices is located within 5 minute walk from where all his major works are gathered. One of my favorite ways to deliver bad news is in Vrubel chamber of Tretyakovskaya gallery.

I'm so impatient to go back to Moscow, I have such a vivid memory of the Vrubel room.

Here are some more examples of Penone's work

and this is what the tree looked like in the beginning (bad pic, sorry)

I love him so much and pictures rarely do justice to his work. I really need to see more of them in person (there is a mini-exhibition currently in the Ecole des Baux-Arts in Paris, it's free and open to all during class hours, those of you who live here or are comming for the fashion week would be well advised to check it out. not my favourite pieces of him but impressive none the less)

i read an article online about his work the other day, likening his manipulation of time with regards to emphasizing violence in underlying approach similar to cinematic depictions of certain film directors. he also had a quote about definition of anxiety I read over a few times, the clown piece in particular is something I'd have liked to watch IRL.
