Thanks for this Faust. Great read.

I agree on casem's observation, it's so nice to know she is very heavily involved in the construction and development of the garments, froma technical aspect.

Constantly refining and experimenting, it's a lot of work.

Also interesting to read how she is evolving the brand and staying true to her original aesthetic, carefully expanding.

Makes me want to buy her clothes even more than usual!

Thank you for the fascinating article, Faust. For the most part, I don't really care for designer interviews, but this one is different. Somehow you can feel the passion and mood that Demeulemeester imbues into all her clothing. It's almost as if she's putting a tiny bit of her life into every garment.

EXACTLY! You nailed it. And look what she says about perfection (referring to the yohji thread here)

I've been putting off reading this until I could savour it properly (i.e., with wine [73]), and it was totally worth it. The most complete portrait of Ann I have ever read, and beautifully painted. I wish there were more in depth interviews like this. [64]

                        Thanks for posting, Faust. [75]

I think its important to keep in mind the audience when reading the article, it does cover a lot of ground we've already seen and the presentation is as long as the interview itself but it constitutes a self-contained introduction to Demeulemeester's work. I'd really like to see a follow-up concentrating on the fabric and creative process, as that's where it shone for someone, like me, who already knew about her work.

Agreed. It's a fine line writing for a dilettante audience and trying to engage a more discerning public.
