Becoming a cyborg being fashionable is disgusting, probably not much worse than the people who dress like Morpheus and took the blue pill.

Was sitting opposite one at dinner the other day. Lovely guy otherwise but having that thing on the whole time made me want to punch him for being such a twat.
Hi. I like your necklace. - It's actually a rape whistle, but the whistle part fell off.

I don't understand the hate towards people using google glass and I'd be interested to know why I should hate them as well (they haven't made it yet to Canada so if this is bc of some associated behaviors I'm at a lost).

Because it's like adding an invasion of privacy to an ugly pair of Oakleys.

Yeah i understand completely. Stop fucking interacting with your world through an electronic proxy. It's basically the same problem with people who text constantly or listen to music with one ipod earbud in while talking to you.

I don't think this sort of thing will be cool for anyone other than middle-aged gadget men. Like the kind of person who has a house filled with i devices and trys to sell you the virtues of his operating system.

                        wow, pretty bitter post.

Yeah but that's exactly it. I don't mind Glass per se, but when you wear it while having a conversation its mere presence, whether you use it or not (hard to tell), makes you less present. And in turn devalues the idea of having a conversation. It literally felt like they were checking their messages and taking pictures of food while I was trying to engage. Obviously that came up in conversation and apparently the solution will not be taking it off, but the tech becoming so small that I won't notice it anymore.
                          Great.

I've had my pair since October... wear it nearly daily when I am in the lab/at the hospital. That being said, when I'm in meetings, one on one conversations etc. I take them off and flip them around on my neck.

Haven't yet had a negative comment about the tech, "invasion of privacy" (what does that even mean anymore... everyone carries a video camera/still camera in their pocket) or otherwise.

It's super new tech and worn in a way without much of a publicly used predicate so it will definitely be quite polarizing.

That being said, I'm super aware of my environment when I wear them and typically only wear them when I'm working by myself or walking from one place to another/in the car by myself. I've been spearheading the utilization of Glass in the OR for training, telementoring, teleconferencing and telemedicine in general here in Houston... a quick shot from last friday:

I'll never sit across anyone who wears these. I saw on 60 minutes last night video drones that fly, operate, and look like hummingbirds. I have real hummingbirds outside my house every day, and now I'll have to get close to it to make sure it's not a fucking drone?! There already non-clandestine drone hobbyists in my neighborhood and it pisses me off to see them flying around.

I train a very dynamic staff martial art out on large beaches or forests with few people around. About half the time I do, I'll catch some asshole anywhere from 50 to 70 feet away sticking his camera phone up in the air directly at me while I'm training. I always stop immediately and give a death stare, where they either pretend they weren't about to record me or demure off quickly in guilt.

It's one thing to carry a device capable of recording and another thing to have it pointing at whatever you're looking at at all times. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I'm photo shy as it is, the idea of whomever I'm talking to potentially recording the conversation without my knowledge weirds me out.

And all that moment presence stuff earlier, I fully agree with that as I pause from my workout to make this post.
