So, bizarrely enough, last week in Florence Mos Def performed for like 30 people at a fashion presentation. I talked to him for a bit and he said he mostly lives in Paris now.

that's quite random, I have not listened to any of his new music but Black Star (with Talib kweli) is one of my favorite albums of all time. but back to the topic, i'll leave this here

Hard to say. I think most of them have stylists, even when they are interested in fashion. The pressure to look good/right, whatever that is, must be great. BTW, it's a misconception that all rock stars and celebs get their clothes for free. They buy plenty, either because they can or because the designer won't give the clothes away.
